Once Nick left, I decided to take having the house all to myself as an advantage. The day after he flew out, I got home from work and hopped in the bath right away, blasting music in my Beats Pill speaker. I sang at the top of my lungs, soaking in the bubbles and warm water for a little under an hour.

Once I was changed into some shorts and an oversized t-shirt, I ordered Chinese food to be delivered to the apartment I shared with Nick. I sent him a picture, teasing him somewhat.

He answered quicker then I thought, sending heart eye emojis and fire emojis

He answered quicker then I thought, sending heart eye emojis and fire emojis. I had to laugh. Then he sent me pictures.

I swear I started to drool. Or, almost.

Then I started getting pictures from the basketball game he finished only hours earlier. Apparently, he met all the professional players on the team, and met some fans too. I found myself smiling at my phone from ear to ear.

Cassidy: My man looking fine. Dang baby [fire]

I stared at the pictures and continuously scrolled through them until he'd replied to my text, saying he had to go back to his hotel. I told him goodnight, saying we could FaceTime tomorrow before work, if he was available. My food came and I answered the door, grabbing the plastic bag and devouring the Chinese food soon enough, sitting in front of the television.

I flipped through the various channels before giving up and turning to Netflix. I turned on the show I've been watching, American Horror Story. Oh, how I love it.

As I was eating noodles, the last of my dinner, my sister's ringtone blasted from my phone in the bedroom. I shot up from the couch to answer it.

"Hey Victoria." I said into the phone, trying not to sound like I was just running.

"Hey. Could you watch Sebastian for the night? Ryan's mom is in the hospital, and we need to be there." My sister's voice was a bit shaky on the other end, like she'd been crying.

"Of course. I can watch him as long as you want." I sympathized.

"Great. Because we're on our way over to drop him off. I'm sorry if I'm intruding on you and Nick but-"

"It's fine Vickie. Nick isn't home anyway, won't be for another day or so. I'd love to have some company."

"Awesome, thank you so much. I've no idea what I'd do without you. Love you."

"Love you too. See you in a few."

"Buh bye." Then she hung up. Nick and I didn't have an extra room in the apartment that's free for someone to sleep in. I guess I'll either be on the couch, or Sebastian can sleep with me in our bed.

I went into the bedroom, slipping on sweatpants and a different shirt before going back into the living room to through away the paper containers my dinner was in. Then there was the knock on the door. I opened it, gathering my older sister into my arms, my nephew running passed me into the apartment.

"You okay? How's Ryan?" I asked her, rubbing her back in circles. She sniffled.

"We're doing good. I'm just really close with Joann and she's his mother. It's hard." Victoria pulled away from my arms, looking at me and kissing my cheek, thanking me. She said goodbye to her son, and then she was off to the hospital. I whipped on my heel, looking Sebastian in the eye. He had a little backpack on, probably packed with toys and clothes.

"Hey little man." I crouched in front of him, hugging the little boy.

"Hi Auntie Cass." His little voice melted my heart.

"Are you ready for bed yet?" I asked. I wasn't sure when his bedtime was either, and then I remembered that I had work tomorrow, plus I'd need to bring him to his school. Sebastian nodded his head and gave out a little yawn. I gestured for him to follow me into my room, and I got him set up on Nick's side of the bed.

"Are you sleepin with me?" He rubbed his eyes and I put his backpack on top of my dresser.

"Yeah. I was going to stay on the couch, but I think we'll be fine. I'm going to go into the living room for a bit, but you get some sleep and I'll be in soon." I kissed my nephew on the forehead and tucked him in, imagining if I had kids of my own one day. With my boyfriend. I wouldn't want to have a family with anyone else.

His blue eyes he inherited from his mother sparkled up at me and I smiled, saying goodnight to him.
