Week 3- Chapter 4
Ariel's POV:
I was sketching a picture of baby Alexander. It was a picture of him waddling in the snow. He was pointing to one of the royal dogs jumping around in the snow, and he had the most beautiful smile across his face. His eyes twinkled as he laughed, and he didn't seem to mind the cold weather. His ears and head were covered by a minion beanie, and his navy blue Mickey Mouse snow jacket protected him from the snow. His small black snow boots were hidden under his plain black sweatpants. My little brother... I miss him a lot. He was so adorable and I loved playing with him. There was a huge age gap between us, but I still loved him dearly. He had dirty blond hair and tan skin like Father, but he had gorgeous dark brown eyes like Mum's. I've been working on this portrait of him for about a day. I just finished coloring it in with color pencils I found in a box by Daddy's mattress.
Yesterday I finished a portrait of Mum and Father. They were sitting in the library at the palace. Father was handing her a book, and she was staring at him adoringly. Her smile seemed so sincere. Father was staring back at her with a smile on his face as well. He was staring at her with so much love that I wish if I ever escape, I can find someone that loves me as much as Father loves Mum.
"There," I said smiling softly. "I'm finally done. Now, to start my next picture." I grabbed my pen and started with the jaw line. Four hours later I finished sketching with my pen, and I was about to grab my color pencils when I decided I should take a break from coloring. I grabbed Star and propped her on my legs. It's still extremely painful for me to move, but I have no other choice. I've honestly lost hope in ever leaving here. It's been three long weeks and there hasn't been a single change. Daddy still gets beat because I don't cooperate and I haven't had any contact with anyone. Quite literally. Yes, the goons come in to give me food, but I don't look at them. I act emotionless until they leave. The same thing goes for Amelia. She comes in and tries to convince me to give in, but I don't respond at all. I don't blink or turn to look at her.
I want to say goodbye to everyone, but it's not possible. They're back in London while I'm stuck here in Bristol. I sighed loudly and started to sing Almost Lover by A Fine Frenzy. "Goodbye, Haz. I'll always love you. Goodbye everyone, I hope I do get to see you again."
Almost Lover
Your fingertips across my skin
The palm trees swaying in the wind, images
You sang me Spanish lullabies
The sweetest sadness in your eyes, clever trick
Well, I'd never want to see you unhappy
I thought you'd want the same for me
Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I'm trying not to think about you
Can't you just let me be?
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
Should've known you'd bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do
We walked along a crowded street
You took my hand and danced with me, images
And when you left you kissed my lips
You told me you would never ever forget these images, no
Well, I'd never want to see you unhappy
