A New Beginning... Again?- Chapter 9
Cher's POV:
I heard Harry grow excited. He kept telling Ariel to wake up, and she did. I heard them mumble something, and Doctor Hopper's eyes widened. I saw Harry's grip on her hand loosen, and the nurses quickly ushered us out of the room. Harry was the last to leave, and he looked like he was on the verge of crying or fainting. What in bloody hell is going on? We started to murmur quietly with one another while Harry remained silent. After a couple of minutes of waiting, the nurses rolled Ariel out on a chair while Doctor Hopper followed curtly behind her. "Doctor, what's going on? Is my daughter alright?" King Thomas managed to ask the doctor before he hurried down the corridor behind the nurses.
"We need to run some scans on her. We need to find what's going on in her brain. We don't want to alert you, but we need to find out what's going on," Doctor Hopper quickly informed us before jogging after the nurses. I turned to Harry and I saw that he was still frozen. He wasn't saying anything. It's as if he's trying to process everything. Whatever is going on must be pretty big since it left Harry in shock. I walked over to Harry and stood beside him. Everyone was too busy talking to one another with excited and nervous tones that they didn't even notice I moved.
"Harry," I whispered, "What's going on?" He didn't budge. It's as if he didn't hear me. "Harry," I whispered again by nudging him in the ribs.
He slowly looked at me, and I noticed he looked extremely upset. Instead of finding out what was going on, I hugged him tightly. At first he seemed shocked, but he eventually hugged me back tightly. I care so much about all my friends, but seeing Harry so hurt actually hurts me. I remember I used to hate him at first. Why? Because he hurt Mermaid. He never let her explain herself. He immediately started to insult her before she could explain herself, but now he's changed. I learned to forgive him and move on from the past. Still in our hug, I said, "Harry, I don't know what's going on with Ariel, but I do know this. She will never give up recovering whatever she lost. She will get it one way or another, and she will make sure to keep an extremely tight hold on it so she will never lose it again."
He pulled away and managed to give me a small genuine smile. "You're right, Cher. I promised not to give up on her, and I won't."
A nurse came back to escort us to a private waiting room. She said that the other waiting room had a couple of fans in there, and she knew we didn't want to deal with them just yet. Two long hours of waiting impatiently and growing more nervous, Doctor Hopper finally comes into the small private waiting room. (A/N: yes hospitals do have them. I saw about 3 in my local hospital when I worked there. They were small. Like they only hold about 20 people max. They're reserved for special patients. Aka famous people's family & friends)
"We have analyzed Ariel's brain, and asked her a few simple questions. We discovered through an fMRI that her cerebrum, the biggest part of the brain that control many things with memory being one of them, has been bruised. When we did this to her last week, the bruising was very small so we presumed that it wouldn't affect her in a huge way. We thought she would forget a thing or two, but it would quickly heal. However, through the scan we saw that the bruising spread a lot. We discovered through interviewing her that she doesn't remember a single thing from her past. She knows her first name, but that's only because we told her. She also knows her basic movements and facts. She doesn't remember anyone. We asked her if she knew who the boy with curly hair and green eyes was, but she just shook her head slowly and played with her fingers. She has no idea of what happened to her, but fear is clearly evident. She talked very little," Doctor Hopper said with a serious face.
"So she has amnesia? How long will this last?" Liam asked looking very concerned. I'm sure he's not only concerned for Ariel, but also for all of us. Another thing to last to the list of things to be devastated about.
