My Demon’s Note
Can you let me go?
You don’t care for me I know.
It’s just a game you play
To take away my soul
My mind is shattered beyond repair
My earthly sins haven’t any prayers
Sleepless nights spent soaked in memories
Wouldn’t my life make a great story
What would it be?
I’ve always lived in Fantasy
Where will it go?
Can I make it past the endless show?
Can you let me go?
I shoulda known better than to ask
Emotions run right past you
As my soul is caught in your trap
My mind races in million directions
My regrets all disappear
The earth spins faster every year
The memories swarm up around me
The emotions are sharper than before
And everything just feels empty
I’ve got the first prize on that score
Mother, Why do you blame it on me?
Sister, why do you refuse to see?
Brother, just go away.
Father, stop begging me to stay.
So can you tell me now?
Do you know your answer yet?
Can you let me go?
Do you think you have room left to grow?
I can’t stay here
For my soul is crying
Yearning against it’s chains
You make me the stifled bird
I sing and my voice is never heard
And still you don’t understand the words
Can you let me go?
Can you let me drift along?
Can you leave my past behind,
And keep the dreams away?
Memories come with destruction
Hope just turns to pain
Though you know I’m the one
You turn your back to me and walk away.
