The worst feeling ever is not knowing whether to wait or give up

--

The bang of continuous knocking howled in my ears, it seemed as if it was not one person but multiple people who were exerting their force on the wooden door. My small frame trembled under the loud noise of banging on door and clanking of guns. Shivers ran down my spine and fear froze my mind; unable to move, I was rooted on my spot, not even able to pick up the mobile to call Luciano or Mary.

The noise from outside dampened. Curiously, I took faltering steps towards the door and with the peek hole, my blurry vision was able to see three huge men, their faces covered by shiny black material and they passed looks to each other, their lips moved. The revelation had come as a blow to me; it came as a bomb that was blown above my head sucking out the barely remaining life, sanity and will that I had.

My heart plummeted in my chest and my mouth hanged open for some air, my chest kept on rising and falling. I moved a couple of steps back, thinking of nothing. My eyes glued to the door, after a second, my eyes closed and I sucked in a breath. Before I could decipher something else, the weakened door crashed down at me and with the blunt force of their strength, the falling door landed on me and I found myself pushed on the door under its weight. My thighs immediately felt the throbbing pain; a wince of mourning escaped my mouth. As my eyes fluttered open, on the entrance, I saw three men clad in black towering over me. The thunderous fall made my head hit the ground harshly which cause my head to spin and my vision to double for a minute.

"Not a single word or you die on spot," A broad man with a gravel tone raised his voice at me. My feeble hands lifted up to wipe the blood of the back of my head. He came near me and bent over me with his gun, he put a pressure on my forehead, his harsh breathing was evident, I pushed my palms on the ground and lifted myself as much as I could; despite having a broken door laying mercilessly on my legs. I pushed away the tangled wisps of my flames like locks, and found myself looking into his dark green eyes.

I winced, "What do you...want?" My throat went dry; the words felt like pins on my tongue that I needed to spill out. Regret and pain crawled up my skin, slithering up the spine as his eyes darkened.

Noticing my crunched up face due to pain, the tallest among them crouched down and picked up the broken door that was squeezing the strength out of me. I heaved a sigh as I felt the pressure being lifted away. Moving my legs, I straightened up a little and face the man with a gun, raising my voice at him; I dared to ask again, "What the hell do you want?"

The sobs immediately came after I exhaled a shaky breath, trying to rid myself of the thoughts of past. My trembling limbs and shrill voice bothered the green eyed monster breathing down at me, so he slapped me with his gun. With one strike, the cold metal left a deep scratch on my cheek and blood oozed out of the scratch, staining my pale skin. He hissed, "Do not yell!"

"Do not hurt her, he asked for her without scratch. Control yourself or I will kill you to save both of us," the one who picked up the door spoke up, and his deafening voice boomed. With His calm and steady demeanor, he pushed the green eyed monster away from me. The one who stood a bit further away from us also plodded towards the two who stood closely to each other, ready to tear each other apart.

The third man spoke up, "Dean is right, Just take her quietly, no need to make a mess!" The one who slapped me with the gun huffed and muttered curses at them, in a second, they got into heated argument. The opportunity was bleak but the opportunity was there nonetheless. Struggling to get up with no noise, I managed to cross them and escape the house with my throbbing painful temples and thighs, fuzzy and blurry vision and burning sensation lacing my face where the gun made sure to leave a mark. While their attention was on the cruel one and they were swiveled towards him, I started my Last Run.
