Chapter 20: New York, NY

Amanda's POV

As soon as we arrive in New York, New York my nerves are on high alert. Jake constantly watches me like he's afraid I'm going to pass out. But all too soon he is forced to leave me as he has to sign his new record deal with Warner Brothers Records. Megan and I decided to hang out in the lobby, while Jake does his business.

                "So are you going to tell me why you are so nervous about being here?" Megan asks.

                "You remember how I lied to keep Jake safe?" I ask recalling when we met.

                "Yeah…"

                "I was protecting him from my psychotic ex boyfriend who was the one who kidnapped me." I say.

                "Oh my god! That's horrible. I'm so sorry Amanda." Megan says hugging me.

                "It's alright." I say smiling softly.

Jake finishes all his interviews and signing and we are off to the venue where another surprise awaits me. As we walk into the venue I am hugged from behind.

                "What the?" I turn to see Madison.

                "Hey!" I exclaim hugging the girl who was once my enemy.

                "Surprise!" She grins letting go.

                "What are you doing here?" I ask her.

                "Came to support you guys and I brought someone with me." She says.

                "Amanda!" I hear. I turn to see Crystal.

                "OH MY GOD!" I scream and run over to my best friend hugging her tightly.

                "Babe?" Kevin asks.

                "Surprise!" Crystal exclaims as Kevin walks over to hug his girlfriend.

                "This really is." Jake says.

                "You mean you didn't know?" I ask him.

                "For once this surprise isn't mine." he says shrugging.

                "It's mine." Joey says.

                "Thank you!" I scream running over to hug Joey.

                "You are welcome." He says laughing.

Pretty soon Jake's on stage and Madison, Crystal, Megan and I watch the show from backstage.

                "It's really good to see you girls." I say.

                "We know." Crystal smiles as Jake finishes "I'm Alright" and runs off stage.

Later that day as we are all sitting in Chick-Fil-A eating, Kevin and Crystal looked uncomfortable. I wonder what's up with them. As we board the tour bus we hear arguing. I turn and let go of Jake's hand to see Kevin and Crystal arguing.

                "Uhh.." Megan says.

                "I really don't know." I say.

I wince as Crystal slaps Kevin and then walks away with Madison. What just happened?

Kevin walks over.

                "What?" He snaps.

                "Uh nothing." I quickly board the bus with Megan. The rest of the night Kevin isn't sociable or anything. He just sits around and mopes. Finally I can't stand it anymore.

                "What is your fucking problem!?" I scream making Edgar almost drop his laptop.

                "Did she just cuss?" Joey whispers to Jake.

                "Who are you talking to?" Megan asks.

                "I'm talk to Mr. Mopey over there!" I say pointing to Kevin who looks up from his phone.

                "None of your fucking business Amanda!" he snaps at me. That's it!

                "I have had enough of your fucking shit! I say standing up.

                "Yeah and what are you going to do about it?" He challenges standing up. I am tall but he's taller than me. But I don't let the height intimidate me.

                "Kevin, don't talk to her like that." Jake says standing up.

                "She can defend herself, right Amanda?" Kevin says looking me.

                "I don't know what happened tonight, but that's no reason to be an asshole!" I exclaim shoving Kevin.

                "Touch me again Amanda and I swear to god!" he threatens.

                "What are you going to do?" I say pushing him again.

                "Okay! That's enough!" Jake says grabbing me around the waist and picking me up.

                "You are lucky Jake's here or I would have kicked your ass Kevin!" I scream as Jake drags me into our backroom and shuts the door.

                "Damn babe!" Jake says setting me down on the bed.

                "What is his problem!?" I ask.

                "Crystal dumped him tonight! Lay off him alright?" Jake explains.

                "She….WHAT!?" I exclaim.

                "Yeah…." Jake trails off.

                "I can't believe her!" I pull out my phone determined to cuss her out.

                "Amanda don't do it!" Jake pleads.

                "Too late….." I say listening to the dial tone. Pick up bitch!

When it goes to voice mail I throw my phone on the bed and groan laying down.

                "Let them figure this out." Jake says sitting next to me.

                "But….I don't want them to be unhappy." I mutter sitting up.

                "Not everyone has it as easy as us." Jake says looking at me. I look into his eyes. Easy as us? That's a joke right. But I can tell he's not joking.

                "Easy as us? Babe we don't have it easy." I say sadly.

                "I know. But we try our best to make it easy." He smiles. he's right. We do everything we can to make sure we are together, no matter what the cost. I'm still going to figure out why they broke up. Even if I have to beat Kevin up to do it.
