Chapter 10: Safe Haven

"What do you mean he's dead?" I screamed. "He was just fine! They were okay!" Tears streamed down my face. "And her son?! What kind of shit is that?"

"Baby, breathe." Levi laughed at me, rubbing my back. "It's just a movie."

"No, no it's not. It's a heart breaking story." He rolled his eyes and shook his head at me. "Levi, you don't understand!"

"Baby." He said, and I looked into his eyes. I opened my mouth to complain more, but then I was silenced with a kiss. I sighed into it, and let Levi wrap his arms around me. He pulled away and cupped my face, running his thumb softly against my cheek bone. "It's just a movie."

"A sad movie." I grumbled, making him chuckle.

Levi had returned like he said he was going to. Which in a way, shocked me. But after the shock faded away,  guilt quickly took its place. I realized that I had no faith in him. I was that self conscious, I had no confidence in myself or him. I felt awful.

"Do you want to do something?" Levi suddenly asked. I looked at him and his gray eyes were sparkling. He looked genuinely excited.

"Like what?"

"It's a surprise." He said, standing up from my bed then pulling me with him. The way Levi looked down at me, his hands on my waist, his eyes more animated then I had ever seen them. In the moment, I couldn't have said no to him even if I had wanted to.

"Ok. Let's go." I told him, and he grinned at me, tugging me out of my room by my hand. We snuck out into the hall, and down the stairs. Levi peaked around the corner and peered into the kitchen. I assume the coast was clear because we then bolted for the front door. We ran quickly from the house and made our way into the woods.

"Let's go as wolves, it will be quicker." Levi grunted while pulling off his shirt, making me choke on saliva. I coughed obnoxiously and turned around taking off my own shirt. I heard him chuckle as I hid behind a tree to change. I folded my clothes neatly after undressing, and shifted. It was getting less and less painful.

I trotted back to where Levi was, and he had shifted too.

Come on, baby. He said through our mate link. Taking off like a bullet, I struggled to keep up with him. I pushed my body, and I pushed it hard, but I still couldn't get myself past his back legs. I growled in frustration, and tried forcing my body again.

Willow you're gonna hurt yourself baby. Do you want me to slow down? Levi's concerned voiced echoed in my head.

I had started panting, my heart rapidly seizing in my chest. No I can do it.

You do not have to try to prove yourself to me, love. Levi assured me. I just ignored him completely. I was glad that he hadn't decided to slow down, and that he had listened to me. I needed this, and my wolf needed it too. We really needed to push our body, make it work to it's full potential. Being a newly shifted wolf, my body required conditioning, so I could help protect my pack.

We raced all the way to where ever my 'surprise' was. Levi began to slow down, and I followed suit, my muscles screaming in agony from the run. But in a way, the pain was good, proof that I actually did something.

We're here, my love. Levi's voice flooded my mind before he shifted quickly. I was shocked to see his naked form, and I immediately turned around. The sight of his flesh made me warm and tingly, which made me quickly force the sensation out of my mind.

"You can look Willow, I am your mate." Levi chuckled.

His words made me turn and meet his gaze. His grey eyes were sincere, and in that moment everything felt right. I shifted, my bones clicking back into their original state, and I was standing in front of him just as bare as he was. Levi held out his hand for me, and I took it quickly. We walked several feet into the woods before we entered a clearing.

It was so beautiful. There was wild flowers every where. Their floral scent caressing my senses, the breeze kissing my bare skin.

"Come on, there's more." Levi told me, pulling me further into the meadow. Our pace was slow, and I felt completely at peace. But then I remembered. I was very naked. I covered my chest with my free hand, and I saw Levi chuckle in my peripheral.

We walked through the meadow, the wildflowers kissing the sides of my thighs due to their height. Back into the woods, but on the opposite side of the clearing, we are soon greeted by a waterfall so beautiful it made my breathing halt. The river above the lake came rushing off the edge of the cliff, creating the beautiful thirty foot water fall that stood before us. The water was a clear blue, matching the sky above. And the large boulders around the lakes edge were black, and even darker where they were marked by water. The white water from the splash of the fall, creating so many bubbles it become one large white cloud. Dark green ferns were scattered around the waters edge as well, creating a visual of just four colors. Blue, black, white and green. Each color was so vibrant to my eyes it was immaculate. The lake wasn't very big, maybe forty feet across, in an almost perfect circle. I took a step closer to the edge to maybe get a glimpse of the depth.

"Do you like it?" Levi asked, and I turned to see his nervous impression, as if he was worried that I wouldn't enjoy the gift he has given to me by bringing me here.

"To me, this is a place that I can't just like. It is so peaceful here it's indescribable. The roaring of the fall, the beautiful colors, and there is no one else here. It is amazing, it is perfect. I love it here, thank you Levi." I said thoughtfully, admiring the view in front of me again. Levi stepped closer to me, and he wrapped his arms around my bare stomach. I inhaled sharping, feeling his bare skin against mine. He placed a light kiss where my shoulder meets my neck, causing a shiver to run down my spine. Because his lips were still pressed to my skin, I felt them turn up in a smile.

"That makes me so happy you feel that way." He whispered to me, intertwining our fingers and walking towards the water.
