After the war, 1945
Anne Frank is at the Red Cross, getting better from her typhus. The nurse is currently doing other checks to be sure Anne is fine. Suddenly, the nurse stops at Anne's stomach, see in that it is swollen.
"May I do a pregnancy test?" The nurse asks. Anne nods. The nurse grabs a pregnancy stick and placed it on Anne's stomach. The stick beeps and shows a + sign, signaling that Anne is pregnant.
"How old are you, Miss?" The nurse asks.
"Almost 16. Is something wrong?" Anne is confused. She doesn't have the slightest idea why the nurse is so questionable.
"No, you are about nine months pregnant." The nurse smiles. Anne takes a moment to process what the nurse just said. But Anne didn't look nine months pregnant, her body was all bone and no flesh. Her swollen stomach... Anne thought that her typhus or something else caused it. But pregnancy?
"What is your name?" Anne asks. The nurse turns.
"Julia Turner." The nurse says. Anne smiles.
"Such a beautiful name. I wish I had your name, Julia." Anne says.
"Thank you. What is your name?" Julia asks.
"Anne Frank."
"You have a beautiful name, Anne," Julia says.
"Thank you."
"Do you have anyone you can tell you're pregnant to?" Julia questions. She sanitized her medical equipment.
"I don't know. My mother and sister are both dead." Anne frowns, shouldering an oversized blouse back onto her shoulder.
"I'm sorry." Julia finishes Anne's check-ups. Anne is free from disease and infection.Anne walks to Gies and Co., where her family, the van Pels's, and Mr. Pfeffer hid just the year before. Before then, Pim and Mr. van Pels worked together as business partners. It was the only place Anne could remember. Someone else was living in her apartment on the Merwedeplein.
Miep Gies looks out the window, seeing Anne walking towards the building. She rushed outside.
"Anne." Miep wraps her in a tight hug.
"Miep." Anne smiles. "I missed you so much."
"Me too." Miep smiles. "Your father is inside."
"He survived?! What about Peter?" Anne asks. She is very excited to hear that her father is still alive. He's not dead after all!
"I don't know," Miep says. "Come on, I'll take you inside."
They walk into the building together where Mr. Frank sat in a chair in his previous office. He smiles as the two walk in.
"Pim." Anne sits across from him. Her face is overjoyed, as he is too.
"Anne." Pim smiles.
