It was early, about seven in the morning, when Michaela awoke from her slumber. Samuel had fallen back asleep and his head was laying on hers. She pushed him off a little, causing him to awake again. "Well, good morning gorgeous." He smirked, putting his hair back in place.
"Morning...why did you come out here?" She inquired.
"Well I woke up at two and then fell back asleep about four because of sheer boredom in the darkness." They both laughed a little at this.
Samuel decided to try and cook breakfast, but he failed at properly flipping the pancakes. "I guess this is why I told Prince to do it..." He sighed, tossing another burned one. He finally settled on throwing some freezer waffles in the toaster and giving them out.
"Eggo waffles? Such gourmet happening there." She rolled her eyes, taking a bite.
"Well I never claimed to be a chef." He sat back down.
Both were unsure what to say. Finally, Samuel dared to ask.
"So...what triggered you last night?"
"What?" She asked hesitantly.
"Like, I mean, I get depression and all...but you basically were gonna walk in front of a bus. Why? Who upset you?" He at least was calm enough to not punch someone this time.
"Nothing." She sighed.
"Don't shut me out." Samuel jokingly gestured opening a small door. "See that? I opened the door. Now let me in." He leaned in closer, holding onto her.
"Nothing important." She was reluctant to share her negatives with him.
"If it made you want to jump in front of a moving bus, it must be pretty damn important."
"Or I overreacted like I always do." She tried to pull away, but he wouldn't let her.
"Who hurt you?"
"No one! I hurt myself!"
"I don't believe that for a second."
"Then don't, but I won't tell you anything else."
"So you admit something did happen then?"
"It was just another stupid fight. They don't like how much time I spend with you. They bitch about that but they bitch if I stay home too."
"That's all?" He cocked his head, expecting more.
"It's just a build up of all the stupid crap that happens in my life."
"Then don't let it build up...talk to me."
"That's easy for you to say."
"Not really, I tend to try and bottle things up too...but I decided that kinda life sucks so I call my mom or something..." This made her smile a little. He wasn't afraid to admit he was somewhat of a momma's boy.
"I'm just tired...of the drama, the people back home, I just want to start over." Tears started coming out of her eyes.
"Then do it..."
"Where would I go? Our vacation is nearly over. I have nowhere else to be."
"Yep. I'm no one and this is Narnia, you made it up after the bus hit you." He said it with a sarcastic frustration.
"Sorry...I know I'm annoying."
"You're not annoying, your depression is annoying." He winked, flicking the side of my head. "No one likes you depression, go leech on someone else." She started to laugh at him. He was a real goof ball sometimes.
"So, were you basically saying I should stay here?" She said timidly.
"Yeah, I was. We can figure all this shit out here. Even if you go back, you can clear your head enough you don't want to hop in front of a bus."
"Okay...I'll stay."
He smiled, giving her a tight hug. "We'll figure this out." He wasn't sure how they'd do that, but he had faith.
