- sunday part two -
Dean grabbed Castiel's hand with his own while Cas tried to pull away, their fingertips reaching and fumbling against one another.
"He won't mind us holding hands."
"How do you know?"
"Don't be-"
The door to Bobby's home cut Dean's words off. Their hands remained intertwined and Dean felt Castiel's grip tighten. Or maybe it was his own.
A very tall man, taller than both Cas and Dean (who are each giants in a world of humans), with a shoulder length haircut stood behind the open door. Castiel didn't know what he'd been expecting when he was told the man that basically caused Dean's mental break down that night so many months ago was visiting from college, but a 6ft 4 puppy wasn't it. He says puppy, well because...
"Dean!!" Sam announced, pulling his brother into a strong hug, clapping his back with affection. His hair bounced around his face as he pulled Dean in, making him look like an excited dog greeting his owner. Sam broke the hold, shoving strands of hair behind his ears and smiling over at Castiel.
"You must be Cas." He stuck out his hand, to which Castiel nervously took; expecting to be shaken like a rag doll. Instead when their hands met, a firm handshake took place. Sam remained smiling and Cas began to grin a little too.
"What's taking so goddamn long?" A voice behind Sam appeared. Dean laughed, beginning to make his way inside, still gripping onto his boyfriend's hand. Sam stepped to the side revealing Bobby with his arms folded, but a smile could be seen, slightly hidden under his beard.
"Hi, Bobby." Castiel greeted.
"Hey, Bobby." They stepped inside, Sam closing the door behind them. "Here you are." Dean grinned, placing a six pack into his hands. Bobby rolled his eyes, walking back to his kitchen.
"Make yourself at home why don't you." He mumbled on his way out.
Bobby's exit left the three of them standing awkwardly at the entrance. Dean couldn't stop glancing at his brother. He'd changed so much since the last time he'd seen him. He was taller (which Dean didn't know was even possible). He stood up straighter somehow, and he'd left a little stubble along his jaw opposed to his regular clean shaven face. Just standing next to him, Dean felt as if Sam was a changed man. Somewhat healthier... and happier.
"So," Sam said, walking over to the couches and planting himself down on one. "How've you been, Dean?"
Dean didn't move. Castiel almost had to drag him over to the lounge before the pair sat across from Sam. Castiel looked over at Dean, he seemed to be lost in some kind of deep thought. Cas elbowed him in the ribs subtly, coughing to get his attention.
"Oh uh, good good, yeah." Dean nodded. Bobby returned to the room with a bowl and a bag of chips, four beers, and a bottle opener. "Cheers." Dean thanked, taking a beer from his grasp. Castiel and Sam did the same.
"Um, you? I mean, how have you been? How's... College?"
Sam's smile faltered slightly before he picked it back up. "It's..." He struggled to find the words before settling upon, "great. It's really great." He admitted.
Dean smiled, looking down at the dusty carpet. "T-that's great Sammy." He exhaled. "I'm really proud of you." Dean looked back up to meet his brother's eyes.
Next to him, Castiel linked his arm around Dean's, holding his beer up with the other. "Cheers to you guys."
Sam raised his bottle, grinning at first Castiel and then Dean. Eventually Dean raised his bottle too, the three of them turning their heads to look over expectantly at Bobby.
He scoffed and rolled this eyes, raising his bottle to his lips and chugging most of it down. "I thought there were no chick flick moments."
They laughed and clinked anyway, the beginning of a good night.
A/N: Merry Christmas :)
