Under The Rose (Part 1)

Chapter 11

I was again awoken from my nap with loud commotion going on in the gym.I scratch my head in annoyance as I rise from the bed in the infirmary as Haga grabs his first aid kit and spellbook."Hey, Haga-san.What's going on?Seems like my napping keep getting interrupting for no reason,"I asks. Haga chuckles at my comment before slinging everything over his shoulder."In all honesty, my boy, something is going on with the new kid.Apparently she was injured from the force Shigure put in his dodgeball throw.I'm mostly hearing all the information from one of the student.They said something strange is going on to her."I felt my teeth grind against each other at the thought Shigure had hurt someone on purpose especially Maori.Everyone in school knew she was a human, but then again no one is really decent here in the first place.I sighs and hop off the bed."Im coming, too."Haga nods as the two of us made our way to the gymnasium. 'That girl will destroy us all.'that man's voice rang in my mind.I couldn't understand why of all times did I have to hear that phrase.As we continue running, I look outside to see the moon is still shining bright red into the school as we open the gym's door. It look like it was hanging omnious in the sky unlike the usual days.

We pushed open the gym doors to see everyone looking at something. There was a huge whirlwind of rose petals surrounding Maori.Her eyes was closed as she was floating in mid air. Her body was levitating as her back arch so she was facing the sky.The only ones who were still in the gym room was Shigure, two girl students and Mr.Furio. "What happened? "I asks as Furio spoke in his usual loud voice."The human went into this state after suffering injuries from the intense dodgeball match."Shigure made a tch noise as I look to Maori. As if sensing me look at her, her eye opens as the other one she hid behind her bangs shines brightly.The bangs covered it but it seem like a bright amethyst color.

"Mao-chin~You're okay,"Hitagi says as she reaches to touch Maori.I saw the whirlwind intensify as she reach for her and move swiftly to protect her."She's not awake.""Senpai?No im not and her eyes are open.Everyone can stand around doing nothing, but Im going to help her,"she pushes me away as she turns to run back to her. Melody block her way and look to me almost sensing that I have a feeling about what is going on with Maori,"Right now, I do not believe even Maori knows what she is doing."

"Haga-san, what do you do in a situation like this,"I look to him.

"I will attempt to calm her with a incantation,"as he begans to chant in a low tone, a magic circle was aim towards Maori as his horns began to form his head.His power began to resonate as he continues to chant and everyone move away from him. The magic circle forms in the direction as different insignias appears. The circle glows blue then bloody red.CRACK! Sounding like glass shattering, it was crumble by the power emanating from her.The break from the circle cause Haga cough some blood in response,"I won't be able to subdue her by myself.My warlock abilities are being blocked by her own."

"She lied to you all.Why are you still trying to protect her?Especially you, Brother.For her to have this much power, she had to hid it from everyone,"Shigure grits his teeth at how much they cared about the girl.

'Araragi-kun'

I look to Maori whose expression did not change but something was falling from her eyes."She's crying, "Melody states as she turn to face me. 'Hitagi's right. We need to do something.'

"Melody, can you sing a calming spell while I distract her? If Haga-san incantation cant work,  the song of a siren should do the trick, "I suggest as I reveal my vampire form as Melody nods."It may require some time, but let's do this,"a soft glow whirl around Melody. She began to hum softly as a sonic wave was surrounding Maori. She turns to Melody and charge at her with her fist as I grab her wrist. Her eye look to me as her small ram horns slowly began to appear from each side of her temples. She did not say a word as she use her hand to hit me which it did not connect. I toss her away from Melody as she hit the wall with a BAM!She was about to charge at me again as i block each blow.It felt like we were equally matched until bat-like wings burst from her gym uniform.Another tear left her eye as the whirlwind of roses appear again.

Suddenly, a wave of water appear and knock Maori out of the air.I turn to see Hitagi with a mean pout and a whip made out of water. "I'm so going to get you later, Mao-chin~"Then, a roar was heard and it came from Mr.Furio who transformed into a weretiger.He growls as we all prepared ourselves for her. 'Maori, snap out of this. '

'Why me?This is not me!'her eye told me.

Maori flies up in the air before descending to knock Furio and Hitagi back to the wall next to Melody.She then charges as me as I bear my claws and charge at her as well. We kept delivering blows to each other as Melody called out.

"LUNAR SONATA!"in which a sonic wave hit Maori ears as she screams at the top of her lungs. She wraps her arms around her body like she did when she found out her life was a lie.Tears flow from her eyes as her horns and wings retract as she fell forawrd.I leap forward to catch her in my arms.

Melody passed out from the spell she used and was taken to the infirmary along with Hitagi and Mr.Furio.

"You know what she is, don't you?"I speak out loud as I felt my brother beginning to leave the room."You know?That man has told you why.That's why you hate her so much."

"Tch.The reason I hate her so much because of what father says she is.What he warns us about,"he says with a look of pure disgust.

"What did he call her,"I asks still looking down at the girl in my arms.

"Pure-blooded Demon, the only one of her remaining kind who is prophesied to be the one to bring about this world's end,"he walk out the room to who knows where.I look down and wonder,'If that is the case, why did she look like she was in so much pain?'
