After five hours of driving, we finally arrived. Marcos' dad's cabin is perfect for tonight. His parents were in Europe, so they won't find out about anything. My brother Sergio was almost jumping with joy. He's wanted to come for months and thinks it is the best place to organize events. I was also excited about the party, but above all I want to spend some time with Renata. With my new job and her about to graduate from med school, we hadn't had the chance to go on vacations. And though these weren't exactly vacations, it would help me free my mind from all the stress.

Marcos turned off his truck and we get out and walk into the cabin. I've been here before; it is a cottage with four bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, a games room and a dock at the lake. His parents are business people and can afford such luxuries. Marcos prefers partying and girls. Renata and I took one of the main rooms.

I dropped the suitcases on the floor.

"It's going to be a good weekend," Renata said.

"It's going to be a good fucking weekend," I replied.

She jumped in to my arms and we kissed.

"Come, check this out guys!" Marcos' scream came from the hallway.

We went out and he pointed to a room.

"Come," he said.

We went down the stairs to go to the basement. It was big room and practically empty with only two tables for furniture. I saw the concrete floor and thought: "this is going to hurt." It was perfect.

Night fell and people started arriving. The place was packed and there was beer, music, friends and everybody was waiting for 11:00 pm. My brother jumped from group to group around the room, greeting people, charismatic as ever. He opened the door and let in a familiar face: sharp chin and cheekbones, sporting a goatee. What is Hector doing here? I can't believe my brother invited that dude. This is the worst scenario in which you want to find a psychopath like him. Just seeing him gives me a bad feeling. Someone took my hand from behind and I turned around.

"Let's go to the dock," Renata said.

Holding hands, we walked to the dock. The moon shone over the water, enough to light her precious face. I love this woman.

"What do you think?" I asked. It was the first time Renata had visited this place.

"It's beautiful," she answered.

"Did you think about what I said?"

"Yes."

"And?"

"I want to do it, but I'm not quite sure."

"Of what?"

"I don't know... of things not going the way we want them to go."

"We're gonna be just fine. I've got a new job and I'm making good money and you're gonna be a doctor next year. What can go wrong?"

"I thought my life was going in a different direction. I thought I was gonna graduate and then focus on working for a few years, maybe specialize in something. But I feel like everything happened overnight. It is as if I didn't think about it until now. I'm not sure."

I took her hands and kissed them.

"I'm going take care of you" I said.

She smiled. I could see the moon shining in her eyes.
