Imani's POV
I sat on the bed eating unshelled pistachios and half way watching tv as I sat in front of my laptop.
"Imani!" Brandon yelled and I smiled, happy he was home.
"Hey." I said when he came in the room.
He came over to me, kissed my belly and then my forehead.
"What you been up to?" He asked me sitting on the bed.
I sat back rubbing my belly. "Well, I tried eating my snack as I finished up on this paper" I sighed.
"Pistachios as a snack?" He asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, trying to make sure I look right once the baby is in my hands and not my belly." I said looking down at my growing bump.
"Quit doing that, you gonna be fine." He shrugged.
"I don't know. I'm a single woman, I need to make sure I look good." I said and he side eyed me.
I laughed. Brandon had made it very clear that he wanted to work things out and he didn't wanna date anyone except for me.
"Quit fuckin' playing with me."
"don't be like that, you know I only got eyes for you." I said laughing.
"He-he hell." He said laying on my bed with Shea butter in his hand.
I smiled watching him as he laid down on his belly, rubbing the Shea butter on my stomach.
"This little baby love to act up when you around." I said feeling small kicks. They weren't really strong but definitely there.
"Don't play, the baby just wanna bond with they daddy."
I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, at mommy's expense.
"I can't wait to find out if it's a girl or boy." Brandon said and I shook my head.
"You ready for this little baby to come? Don't speed it up." I shook my head.
"Nah, I can't wait. Come asap." He said to me happily.
"I want this baby to be alive and well so I can wait." I said.
"Yeah, of course."he nodded.
"Besides, we got stuff to work on before this baby comes." I said.
I had been hinting at this conversation for a few days.
"Something on your mind?" He asked and I nodded.
"Okay, shoot." He told me.
"You need to back away from the table." I said
"You know that's not gonna happen." He said and I sighed.
"Seriously Brandon?"
"Yes seriously."
I shook my head. "Why though? You have money to support yourself. Do your part for the baby and everything. I don't see why you can't just quit the game."
"Shit ain't that easy."
"Please don't give me that mediocre bullshit like I don't know the game." I said getting heated.
"Calm the fuck down before you stress my baby out." He said and I sighed.
"Move." I said pushing his hands off my belly and leaving the room.
