The encounter with my now so-called Boss left me with Goosebumps as I entered my apartment. I hooked my bag around my desk chair and strolled towards my bed allowing my body to fall against the soft sheets and pillows, kicking my shoes off my thoughts wandered as of what tomorrow will bring...
The light beamed into my room as I shifted around in my bed yawning. After hoping into the shower and blow drying and straightening my hair I pulled out a just above the knees black skirt which hugged my curves and a light ocean blue blouse. I tucked the shirt into the skirt and stepped into black pointed heels, classy and sophisticated was always my go to look. Finishing off my makeup with a nude lipstick and minimal eye shadow the blue shirt complimented not only my fair skin but also my blue eyes. I grabbed my bag as I stepped outside the apartment my phone began to ring. "Please not now Lexi," I huffed digging in my bag I pulled the phone up to my face as it read Private Number I furrowed my eyebrows thinking to myself no one ever rings me on private?
"Hello?" I answered as I slowly made my way downstairs.
"Good morning Miss Valentine, this is Ivy, Mr. Giovanni's receptionist just to let you know don't forget to get the Boss some coffee from his favourite cafe near the building," She spoke, very urgently. I quickly replied as to which cafe but I was left hearing the line end.
I was now in a hurry as I glanced both ways of the street before exiting the taxi; I searched for the café near the building as my eyes darted towards the store "Yes!" I squealed knowing I found it and rushed towards the entry. "Next waiting," the barrister called out and I stepped forward, my mouth opened to speak but it then hit me that I had no clue what Mr. Giovanni's regular coffee could be. "Um... One moment please," I apologized and stood on the side of the ordering counter, I lifted my phone out of my pocket and quickly scanned the numbers, the bright green flash appeared and I was receiving a phone call yet again private number.
"I see you," The deep masculine voice asked and I could feel my cheeks flush instantly at the sound of the voice.
"Who's this?" I blurted out stuttering; I let my eyes scan the café before they landed on a man in a suit, his sleek hair brushed to one side and his beard neatly trimmed, he sat tall and superior, of course it was he.
He shut the phone and slid it back into his pocket, as he made his way towards me, I shuffled my feet before clearing out my voice and trying to make my heart pace slow down. "Black coffee, no sugar," he smirked staring at my face I felt my cheeks burn as I turned to the counter and nodded my head towards my boss repeating his order.
"Good girl," He whispered I could feel his warm breath hit against my neck as I spun around only to see how close he was standing towards me, his dark look was captivating and I couldn't help but envy how handsome he looked. I snapped out of my gaze "Bring it up to my office," and with that he left, people moved out of their way for him in the cafe as he made his way across the street and back into the building. "There you go miss," The barrister called and I smiled thanking him and followed the steps back into the Law Firm.
I strolled into the elevator and stepped out on the 60th floor, making my way towards the two large doors I furrowed my eyebrows towards Ivy the receptionist. I was irritated as to why she didn't tell me the information I needed to know for Mr. Giovanni. "Thanks for the details," I spat; she smirked and lifted her head towards me. "You don't belong here, and I'm going to make sure of it," She whispered intimidating me. I stepped back wanting to throw this hot coffee on her stupid hair but mentally shook myself and pushed the door.
How could she be so rude, I have done nothing to her and yet she wants to get rid of me?! Wait till Lexi hears about this, I thought to myself. I let out a sigh and stepped forward closing the door behind me walking towards the large desk I placed the coffee down in front of my Boss and turned around making an exit, "Did I say for you to leave?" I froze in my place and turned to face Mr. Giovanni.
"Sorry Mr. Giovanni I-,"
"Please call me Dominic, sit down," He ordered and I nodded neatly crossing my legs and faced Dominic. He stared at my posture and lifted an envelope and a file.
"I need you to go through this report and let me know what you find," He spoke, his voice was so powerful it was scary sometimes, no wonder his a lawyer he could easily influence and take charge with clients and in court. He passed me the documents and I flicked through the file, it was thick and I knew this was going to take a couple hours. "This will be your office for now until we find out which sector you will be placed in," I was speechless, and nodded my head. "Thank you," I spoke.
I lifted myself out of the chair, and walked over to the small desk, which was placed near the window pulling out a notebook, pen and some other small desk items I began to look through the case file. Dominic watched my every move and suddenly stood up and walked over to me pulling out the chair he sat close and sipped on his coffee.
I felt his gaze and I looked up and raised my eyebrow, "Yes?" I questioned and he stared into my eyes, "Your eyes are very captivating," his deep voice spoke my chest jumped and I tried to push out the thoughts that were rushing through my mind. "Thank you Dominic," Smirking I drew my eyes away from his and looked down back at the file.
Time flew by and I was home again with Lexi sitting on my bed explaining to me the perks of being single. I laughed at her amusement and couldn't help but drift back to what had happened. "He complimented my eyes," I laughed and watched Lexis' eyes widened and she squealed "Oh babe he will be complimenting much more than that very soon," She smirked looking at my body. I shook my head "Oh no, you and I both know I have no experience in that section,". Lexi and I both jumped to the sound of my door knocking aggressively.
I ran towards the door peeping through the hole but it was dark and I couldn't see who it was. "Open it?" Lexi whispered as she grabbed the baseball bat I had kept from my childhood. I swung the door open and Lexi flew in to hit the silhouette but I quickly stopped her before realizing whom it was.
"Hey there blue eyes..." The man collapsed onto the bed and I could smell the liquid he had been drinking. Lexi shut the door and threw the bat onto the floor as she stood mouth wide open.
