*Autumn's POV*
The morning sun rose making the sky a tinted red getting lighter and lighter the farther away from the sun. Clouds were scattered across the sky and the birds sung their songs like every morning. But this morning was different. I hadn't noticed yet but it was. I lost track of days, I didn't know the difference from Monday and Friday. I don't have a phone to know the days. To be honest, I didn't even know it was December. When I walk down stairs something was off. Tinsel was strung around the whole house and colorful lights were hung on the stair railing. In the middle of the living room was a beautiful tree. It was decorated in colorful ornaments and draped with tinsel. Everyone was gathered around it placing more ornaments on. "Hey Autumn!" said Mitch waving to me.
"Um, what's going on?" I say raising an eye brow.
"Oh, we are just decorating! Want to put the star on top of the tree?" said Jerome.
"Why?" I ask still confused.
"For Christmas!" replied Jerome.
"What's Christmas?" When I said that, they all just stared at me in disbelief.
"You don't know what Christmas is?" asked Danielle.
"I've heard of it, but I never actually knew what it was." I say shrugging trying not to be awkward.
"Welp. I guess we will have to explain everything because when it comes to Christmas, all hell breaks loose." chuckles Mitch. Everyone takes a seat where ever there was room and I join them.
~~~~~An hour later of explaining~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~Christmas~~~~~~~~~~~
"So Christmas is about a fat guy who breaks into peoples houses through chimneys. Steals their cookies and milk, then leaves them gifts? And he all does this by flying of magical deer?" I say clarifyinif that was right.
"Ummm, that sounds a little creepy but yea." says Jerome nodding his head.
"And what's the meaning of this holiday?" I say still confused about all this.
"Let me tell you a story." started Mitch, "In a village, all the people gathered around this man that said he had the most beautiful heart. It was perfect in every single way. His heart be was strong and it didn't have one single scratch. Everyone admired him and the beauty of his heart. Then a very old man said that his heart was even more beautiful. His heart had holes and stitches. Some of the heart was oddly shaped with bumps. His heart beat was weak. The man with the perfect heart laughed as said 'Your heart is no where as beautiful as mine.' The old man said 'Your heart may be perfect looking but mine is more beautiful than yours. When ever I find someone with a broken heart I tear out a piece of my heart and give it to them. Which then they tear out a piece of their own heart for my heart. When I place it in my heart it doesn't fit exactly right that's why there are some odd edges. And where there are holes is where I gave my heart to someone but they didn't give me a piece in return. So even though mine might not be perfect in every way, each dent, bump, and hole means something.'. The man with the perfect heart had tears in his eyes. He tore out a piece of his own heart and gave it to the old man. The old man gave a piece of his heart to the man in return. When the man put it in, it didn't fit exactly right but it was even more beautiful than before." (I'm not the owner of this story, don't sue me :P )
"That-That was amazing..." was all I could manage to say. That story made me feel different about Christmas. It wasn't just about presents, the true meaning of Christmas was love. "Well I've got to go get started on dinner. It's going to take a long time." said Mitch standing up obviously wanting to get out of this conversation.
