11/22/16

I woke up at 2:32 this morning

There was a man in a mask

He chased me down the street into a house I used to call my home

He chased me to the corner where I curled into a ball

You showed up in the doorway to protect me

But you did just the opposite

You handed him a gun and watched what he did to me

I fell back asleep at 3:46

This time we were at a baseball game

Sitting in the bleachers with a blanket and a baby

The crowd went silent and stared

They moved closer and everything was moving in slow motion

The man came back and reached for the child

I tried to keep my grip but you took it from my hands and gave it away

I looked to you, screaming and crying, wondering why you'd done it

But you didn't answer

You just disappeared

I didn't sleep after that

So the nightmares ended and you loved me again
