Can't Help Falling in Love-/-
"I hate running."
Sabrina cursed as she bent down to tie her shoe, leggings scraping against the gravel underfoot. The entire lacrosse and cross country team were outside at 5:30 in the morning for a run before school.
"Then why join the cross country team?" Stiles queried, raising an eyebrow. Sabrina stood, motioning around her body. "I have to maintain this amazing physique somehow." Stiles snorted and Sabrina grinned. That was really cute.
Sabrina jumped when Coach Finstock blew the whistle and everyone started to run. "All right, pace yourselves," he shouted. Sabrina jogged awkwardly beside Stiles. She was practically the only girl there besides a few far more athletic girls up front.
A shoulder dug into her back and she stumbled, seeing a blonde curly-haired guy dart past. His eyes were yellow, exactly like Scott's as he raced past, yelling, "Isaac! Isaac wait!"
So that was Isaac. Great first impression, Sabrina thought, grumbling to herself as she sped up. Cross Country wasn't as bad as she imagined, though she had lost Stiles along the way. It had gotten to the point where she was running ahead of the slower people, including Stiles and a few others, which made her very uncomfortable.
Sabrina kept her head down while she ran which was a horrible idea. Sabrina tripped over a tree root and stumbled, falling headfirst into a tree. She felt the blood before she saw it, but it wasn't her's.
A scream pierced the silent forest, and the runners all scrambled to a stop. Stiles recognized the shrill voice though. Sabrina.
She came stumbling out of the trees and Stiles called her name. "Stiles," she cried gripping his shirt, pointing over her shoulder. Stiles wrapped an arm around her and she trembled against him. Because behind her, was a dead guy, held to the tree by a dog leash. His throat was slashed and bloodied.
Another sacrifice.
"Get back!" The sheriff yelled, bursting through the crowd, "Get this area cordoned off before they trample every piece of evidence."
Sabrina and Stiles shared a look and she seemed to have calmed down a little, once the shock of having touched (more like face-planted into) a dead body. He shifted his grip down to her hand, lacing their fingers together, and he turned to his father.
"Dad, come here," he said, "Look, look, it's the same as the others, you see?" The sheriff sighed. "Yes Stiles, I see," he said solemnly, exasperatedly, "Do me a favor, yeah? Take Sabrina back to the school, okay?" He clapped his son on the shoulder despite his protests, and turned to the Coach. "Coach, can you give us a hand here?"
"You heard the man," Finstock shouted, "Nothin' to see here! Probably just some homeless kid..." Scott shook his head. "Coach... He was a senior."
Coach frowned. "Oh... He wasn't on the team was he?" Sabrina scoffed at his lack of heart when suddenly a girl burst through, wailing and crying.
"Kyle!" she screamed, "Oh God no..." The blonde collapsed at the foot of the tree, sobbing uncontrollably. Stilinski took action then, shooing everyone along. "Go, go."
