Wendy felt like her heart was being torn to pieces. She felt so horrible and had never wanted to go back in time, shut herself up, more than this moment right here. It was so painful to watch her doofus stare, not at her, but through her. His face was void of emotion but his eyes were a raging storm of so many emotions, Wendy couldn't make them all out. She cursed herself for asking such a stupid question in this moment but hadn't known what to do. The panic that had filled her entire being when their lips were about to touch had caused her to act on impulse. Anything to distract herself from the feeling that burned through her soul. Now that anything had brought her pain, and a worse yet, seemed to destroy Dipper too.

The silence was beginning to be too much for her. It was growing unbearable with each passing second. She began fidgeting, squirming, and sweating from the nervousness coursing through her being. When it became too much for her, at last, she spoke, "Dipper?"

The sudden question knocked him out of his stupor, "what?" He asked.

Wendy steadied herself, even though she hated herself and just wanted to kick her own ass at this point, she still needed answers, "My boyfriend, Michael? Why didn't he come and visit me when I woke up?"

Dippers mind raced at a thousand miles per hour and in a fraction of a second a memory replayed in his thoughts.

Doctor Matthew stared at him. "Now, until we are sure of the exact extent of her amnesia, we need to act like everything's normal." Dipper looked at him in hope, both sitting on waiting chairs in the hospital lobby, "so I can still do all of the things that we used to do? You know, as a couple?" Doctor Matthew pondered this question a bit, his eyes clouding over in thought, and Dipper watched as the gears in his head turned. It took a second before he answered, "I'm not sure if that will be a good idea." Dipper frowned. Matthew noticed this and quickly spoke up, "she just woke up a day ago. We need to be careful not to cause any unwanted stress. You saw how she handled the news of her lost memories already. I don't think it would be healthy for her if you just suddenly started displaying your affection out of the blue."

"But we've been dating for almost 2 years now!" Dipper exclaimed in frustration.

Matthew put a reassuring hand on his shoulder, "yes, but to her, it was only yesterday that you were a 14 year old boy and her best friend. She doesn't remember any of  the love you two have shared." This caused Dipper to run a hand through his hair and exhale, trying to vent his building anger and sadness. The doctor was right. He knew that. She had only woken up a little over 24 hours ago and already so much information was being thrown at her! She was missing a part of her life and he could see it was overwhelming her.

"This isn't forever Mr. Pines. Just give her a few days, a week, and I'm sure it will all come back to her soon. Until then just try to break everything to her slowly." Doctor Matthew smiled a real and sincere apologetic smile at him. This made Dipper feel somewhat better and then he steeled himself against his own wants and needs before giving a nod, "Okay."

Now the second was over and with the sudden weight of reality hitting him again, Dipper spoke, "I think he might have been busy with work?" They question sounded like he had put a lot of thought into it, just what he wanted, and the doubt in his voice was also planned. Another part of his plan. Wendy raised her eyebrow in question and he slowly responded, "you haven't really spoken about him in a while." He subconsciously scratched the back of his head. A sign that said he was nervous.

Wendy could tell that this topic was making him uncomfortable, since he was nervously scratching at the back of his skull, yet curiosity and worry filled her voice when she spoke, "What do you mean I haven't spoken about him in a while? Dude, how long is a while?" Dipper shrugged.
