As she drops the razor blade, the blood runs down her leg and onto the floor.
"I've never cut that deep before." She thinks to herself as streams of tears run down her face. She wipes away a tear and picks up the blade, cleaning it off with a wet paper towel. The words start flooding her mind again as she stares at the blade twiddling with it in her fingers. Her thigh becomes red around the cuts and the blood flow starts to slow down. The single teardrops turn to streams, racing down her rose red cheeks.
Small sobs can be heard between breaths, and her heart beat quickens, beginning to sound a lot like a horse's gallop. The door knob starts to turn, as does her stomach. She drops the blade and covers her still bleeding thigh with her black blanket. The words begin to escape her mind and the tears quickly fade. Her hand is raised up to her cheeks to wipe away the drowning waves of tears and depression.
Her dad opens the door, looking down at his phone. She quickly picks up the blade and slips it under her pillow while he's distracted. His head jolts up and looks in her direction as the rustling of the bloody blanket tugs at his attention. The wounds uncovered and the blade no longer concealed under the pillow as he yanks at the blanket and pulls it off of the Queen sized bed. The pillows are thrown and words are spit back and forth.
The saddening words and phrases become ever so clear in her mind. All the names and suggestions to 'drink bleach' and 'just hang yourself' begin to cause a tidal wave of depression and doubt. Doubting the fact that she IS worth something. Doubting the fact that she IS loved. Doubting the fact that people will miss her if she disappears.
As her dad continued to howl words he might later regret and refuse to except the fact that he cannot take back what he said to his gorgeous daughter who's heart has been broken because for her there is no second thought to continue to live!
He grabs the blade out of her hand as he sheds a tear. She begins to sob and as the tears begin to run down her cheeks, the rest of the world seems to be standing still and as silent as night.
He asks her why she does these harmful things and why she does the drugs and begins to shed another tear as she yells and stutters...
"Because the physical pain hurts less!"
