The Diner
The small diner was... well small. It wasn't one to catch anyone's attention, but it did catch Raine's.
She walked up to it and quirked her eyebrow up at the sign,
Underbrooke Diner
It didn't have a spontaneous name to it, but it did have a somewhat comforting to it. Raine walked up to it and opened the door. It was a quaint little diner. Not a lot of people were inside. Raine glanced to her sides before walking to the counter, where a woman stood. She had crazy curly hair and dull eyes. She moved as if her actions were debated, but she moved quickly.
She suddenly sensed a new person among her.
The women behind the counter turned to her quickly and sharply, and Raine muffled a gasp.
"Ah! A new customer! Welcome, little one, to my diner." The witch said and Raine muffled a whimper.
"Uh, hello. My name is Raine." She said timidly and the lady gave a small chuckle.
"I'm the Blind Witch, owner of the Bed and Breakfast and of this fine diner. Are you new here in the Underworld?" She asked as she served someone their meal. Raine nodded but then realized she couldn't see and spoke.
"Yes, I just arrived."
"Where did you come from?"
Raine stopped. She didn't remember. She sure knew it wasn't the Land Without Magic, but she wasn't exactly sure where she came from either
"I don't know." She said and the Blind Witch suddenly dropped a glass.
"Did you forget your memory?"
"Yes." Raine hesitated. She watched as the Blind Witch gave a pity look and clicked her tongue.
"What a shame, what a shame. My dear, as a welcome gift, I offer you a room here in the bed and breakfast, no pay." The witch said sweetly and Raine began to smile.
"Thank you! Thank you so much!" Raine exclaimed and the witch waved her away as if it was no big thing.
"No trouble, sweetie. It's not easy waking up in Hell and not knowing why." The witch said and suddenly placed a plate filled with food in front of Raine. Raine took a seat and instantly began eating.
"Starved I see." The witch said before placing a cup of water in front of her and then leaving to assist her other customers. Raine chugged down her water and vacuumed her food in mere minutes.
Raine didn't know what to do. Sure, now she had a place to stay and she wouldn't be homeless, but she just didn't know what to do with her life. She was without a purpose.
"Don't think too much on it, dear. You'll hurt your poor head." A new voice said and Raine turned to them. It was that same lady, the one with the black and white hair. She smirked down at Raine, which made the poor girl shiver.
"Hello, I'm Raine." She introduced herself and stuck out her hand for a handshake. Cruella gave a low chuckle as she stared at her outward hand.
"I know dear." She responded and took a seat next to Raine, not bothering with the girl's hand.
Cruella got her food in seconds and began drinking her coffee slowly."What did you do to get here, child?" Cruella asked and Raine stiffened. She knew a lot of people were going to ask her that same question, but she didn't enjoy answering it. It was just a black reminder that Raine had failed to complete her purpose up in the Living World. And these were her consequences.
"I don't know, I don't remember anything," Raine said quickly. She didn't even turn to Cruella but she knew the lady was staring at her as if trying to read Raine's secrets.
Unfortunately for Cruella, Raine had no secrets. None that she remembered at least.
"I see," Cruella mumbled and turned to her drink again. Cruella wanted to take the child under her fur coat. It wasn't easy waking up dead. Cruella knew that.
But before Cruella could say anything, the Blond Witch returned to the counter.
"Raine, my dear, if I were you, I wouldn't sit around with the Dog Skinner here. If she can kill puppies without feeling remorse... Who knows what else she could do." The Blind Witch said glaring at Cruella. The women chuckled darkly before glancing at Raine.
"Darling, if you want to survive here, I'm your best chance. Come along now." Cruella said before standing up and walking out of the small diner. Raine watched as she did before turning back to the Blind Witch.
"When you return, I'll show you to your room." She simply said before sashaying away to take more orders and assist more customers. Raine stood up and ran after Cruella, quickly catching up.
"Where are we going?" Raine asked curiously and the older women smirked.
"To get you some new clothes darling."
