I thought about what Bobby had said and couldn't understand what he ment. I figured i would ask him eventually and figure out why im so special. "People like us, there arent many left... You, Me, and a few others ive met. "Abby.. You can breath right? Dont feel like you're gonna pass out? Or do you feel nauseous?". I was confused. Of course i could breath, its just air. I nodded no to his questions, "i feel fine," I muttered. "We're almost there".
Maybe about 20 minutes later we showed up at a house ive never seen before. It was 3 stories high, it was all white with a red door and red shudders on the windows. "Bring the helmet Abby". I grabbed the helmet and walked behind Bobby slowly. Walking only where he did. We creaked up the front porch steps and through the front door, as soon as we stepped in he turned around and shut the door, locking it.
"Its ok guys, shes one of us," and all of a sudden people started flooding in from everywhere. Shaking my hand and hugging me, some saying 'bless your heart'. I dropped the helmet and it made a thud noise on the ground making me tense up. I looked up at Bobby with my face reading get me out of here, he grabbed my hand and led me to the second floor. "I already had a room planned for you if you were to end out like us". He pointed down the hall "second door on your right".
I stepped into my room revealing a white carpet that felt like clouds under my feet and a bed in the up-right corner with a purple bed spread, a dresser in the up left corner and a bookshelf built into the wall between my bed and dresser and on both side of the door when you walked in, there werent many books but Bobby told me we would be going out alot and i could take some back to the house with us to read. I sat on my bed and layed back just relaxing for the first time. I breathed deeply and whispered to myself "im safe".
Bobby came into my room. "Like it?" he said "i wasnt sure what a girl would want because obviously im not one, so i had Sasha and Amy put one together for you, you can come downstairs at any time. Everyone wants to meet you". I looked to the floor and heard my door shut a few seconds later. I wanted to meet new people too, i took off my jacket and left it on my bed, leaving my room and heading downstairs. I tried to think of what i was going to say to them, if i could talk to them. Everyone was sitting in a circle talking and smiling and laughing together. I walked in and sat between Bobby and a girl i didn't know. "Everyone be quiet!" Bobby yelled. "This is Abby. She will be staying with us." I picked up my arm and waved a little "Hi" i said.
Everyone introduced themselves. There were 4 guys (George, Robert, Shane, and Braedyn) and 5 women (Alexia, Heaven, Emily, Sasha, and Flora) around Bobbys age, and 3 girls (Amy, Chloe, and Bailey) and 2 boys (Jason and Anthony) around my age, as well as 2 little kids (Miles and Brady) running around chasing each other. There were too many names to remember but I know i'll get them at some point. Bailey was the first to talk to me, "Hey, so you can breath the air huh?". What is with everyone asking me if i can breath? "Yeah, cant everyone?" i said dumbfounded. "You dont know?" She said softly. "Know about what?" i said. She looked around and said "follow me".
She ran upstairs and i followed right behind, we reached to top floor and she walked into a room with red walls "this isnt my room, "But Jason is the only one who can draw and hes seen one of those things before, well we all have" she kept talking as she fumbled around in his closet pulling out a box with gold design on it. "He keeps his drawings in here." she opened the box and looked for the right picture. "Here," she said handing me a paper, I looked at it for awhile not knowing what to say about it "its one of them," she said softly. "Thats what my mom turned into". She said under her breath, how i thought. These things dont even have a face anymore. They're 8 feet tall with tounges as long as them, the air, its changing everyone.
