Alyssa
"Who are you?" I question the strangers in front of me. "How do you know who I am?"
"Please." The girl says. She's stunning, with dark colored skin, and matching hair. Her eyes are gorgeous; a striking blue green that stand out against her dark skin. "Everyone knows the girl with two abilities. I'm Renee." She responds, giving me a small nod.
"I'm Alyssa. But you three seem to know me." I drop my bag on the floor, kicking it out of the way.
"Yeah." A man with sandy blonde hair and green eyes, says. "We had Earth physics together. I'm the guy that always lit your work on fire." He chuckles.
"The Pyromaniac. I remember you. It's Byron, correct?" I question.
"Hell yeah it is."
"Shh." I say, looking around. He tilts his head in confusion. "You could be punished if they heard you say that." I whisper.
"Hell?" He asks, and I slam my hand over his mouth. He lifts my hand off of his mouth. "Don't worry, buttercup." He laughs. "They can't hurt me. Loosen up."
"Someone's acting like they have a stick up their ass." I snap my head to the man that just said that.
"Excuse me?" I ask. He roles caramel brown eyes, before looking back at me.
"You're so uptight. They're already punishing us enough, what else are they going to do?" He asks. "Suffocate us like they did to your dad." My breath gets caught in my throat and my face heats up.
"Samuel!" Renee shouts. Nobody says anything else, they just nervously stare at me and wait for me to do something.
Suddenly, he drops to the ground and clutches his head. "Stop!" He yells, but all I can focus on is causing him pain. I want him to hurt.
His veins in his head become more noticeable. Blood starts dripping from his nose, and he continues to yell.
"Alyssa stop!" Someone yells, but I can't. Why would I want to stop? I hate him.
Samuel charges at me, knocking the wind out of me and sending me flying. I collide with the wall, smacking my head back against it.
"Both of you stop it right now!" Byron yells, standing in between us. Vines wrap around my wrists, attaching me to the wall. "This is not the time to be fighting. We need to get along-"
Suddenly, the wall blows to pieces. The parts of the wall fly everywhere. Before I have the time to do anything, I get hit.
"Alyssa." Someone says, and I open my eyes.
"Dad!" I yell, throwing my arms around him. I cry for him. "I missed you so much." I say, pulling away from him. His kind smile makes me feel little again. It brings back memories of him. His smile. How he wasn't afraid to break the rules. He wasn't afraid to tell me he loved me.
"How can I see you?" I ask. "You're dead." He laughs a bit. I miss hearing him laugh.
"I am." He whispers. "I decided it was time I visited." He answers.
"I'm ready to go with you." I smile. His smile drops though.
"No. You have a life to live." He responds. I shake my head.
"There's nothing left for me. I want to be with you, Dad." He shakes his head. "Mother doesn't love me."
"Your mother loves you very much." He says, his eyes becoming glassy. "We both love you, but you're not ready to come with me." Tears stream down my face.
"Please don't leave me alone." I cry, throwing my arms around him. "I need you."
"Alyssa." My dad whispers. "I would never leave you alone. I'm always by your side." I bury my head deeper in his chest. "But things are going to change." He says. "You need to stay strong. Don't be afraid to break the rules."
"What's going to change?" I ask, but he doesn't answer me.
"Close your eyes. I love you." He says. I do as he says, closing me eyes.
"I love you too."
"Alyssa." A voice says, but it's not longer my father. "Please Alyssa, breathe!" The same voice shouts.
Suddenly, I'm not hugging my father. I'm having CPR done on me by Byron.
I cough, air returning to my lungs.
"Thank goodness." Renee whispers. I gasp, trying to take in as much air as possible.
My chest burns, it feels like there's a fire burning inside of me.
"In through your nose, out through your mouth." Byron whispers, his hand resting on my chest.
I stare at him for a minute, and he stares down at me. My breathing returns to normal.
"Thanks." I whisper, looking up at the ceiling.
"We need to go." Samuel says, and I slowly sit up with the help of Renee. Samuel just stares at me, and shrugs.
"Ow." I groan, a sharp pain rippling through my leg when I try standing. I look down at my leg to see my knee bent in a weird way, and a pool of blood around it.
"Sam." Renee says. "Help her." I look at Sam who narrows his eyes at Renee for a second, before looking at me.
"I'm doing this so we can get moving." He says, before placing his hands on my knee.
"What-" I start to ask, but stop once my knee heals. "How-"
"Let's get moving." He says, before stepping over debris and parts of the wall. Byron helps me stand up, and we follow Sam.
"What even happened?" I ask, staring at the countless dead Pret's lying on the floor. The stench of blood is horrid and nauseating.
"I think it was a bomb." Renee says, stepping over a body. "It's shocking to see no other survivors." My heart aches at all of the dead guards.
But as we're walking, I see one body that I wished I wouldn't have to see. "Mom!" I yell, running towards her.
When I reach her, I drop to my knees. I place my hands on her shoulders, pleading her to be alive.
Her eyes crack open just a little bit. "A-Alyssa." She croaks. A loud sob escapes from my lips as I see a large amount of blood flowing from her chest, and a piece of scrap metal sticking in her chest.
"Sam." I cry, looking towards him. "Heal her." I plead. He opens his mouth and closes it. "Do something!" I yell, looking back at her. Her face looks like she just swallowed something sour. It's all scrunched up in pain.
"I can't." He whispers. "Her injuries aren't fixable." He says. My heart sinks.
I drop my head on her chest. "Please mom." I cry. "Don't leave me here alone. I can't lose you."
"Alyssa." She whispers, I pull away to look at her. "I love you so much. Don't forget that." She says. She brings her hand up to my face, wiping away a few stray tears away. She wraps her arms around me, and pulls me in for a hug.
I feel her arms drop down my back. "No mom." I cry, pulling away.
Her eyes become lifeless, and that's when I know I've lost her. "Mom." I cry into her chest. "Mom." I scream, clutching her face.
All those times I thought I wanted to lose her. I never did. Now she's gone, and there's nothing I can do about it.
Poor Alyssa😔 Don't forget to vote/comment!❤️❤️
