Prologue 1.0
(A/N: Actually, I wrote two prologues to this story. Please check out the other one, it's in the next chapter.)
Two days.
Two days I started running.
Two days I started hiding from them.
I never wanted to be a rogue. Never even dreamed that I would become one. But fate just can't keep itself from intervening, can it?
Either way, I need to get away from here. I don't care where I go as long as I can put distance between me and my pack. They can't know what happened in that clearing. I just can't face them. I can't stand to see the hatred in their eyes once they learned the truth, of what I truly am.
A monster.
I ran and ran. I didn't dare look back. What's there to look at anyway? If I'm lucky, they'd think I perished along with the others. I'm sure they won't be able to track me, the stream a couple miles east from the pack house sure was helpful.
I stopped as I neared a cliff, looking at the ethereal sunset before me. 'How I wish to turn back time,' I thought to myself as I stared at the magnificent sky illuminating above.
'You can't turn back time. What happened in the past, happened in the past. You can never change that.'I sighed. I knew my wolf was right.
"One can only hope. The sky is really beautiful though, no doubt about that," I whispered, my voice laced with a tinge of sadness as I continued looking up at the sky seeing different shades of yellow, orange and... red.
Red.
Blood.
My head started to throb like something was clawing its way out from the inside. I let myself sank into the earth's soil as I clutched my head and closed my eyes. I just need to breathe.
I didn't cry out.
I didn't ask for anyone's help.
I deserve this.
I deserve the pain I'm feeling right now.
When I opened my eyes, I saw blood everywhere. Bodies lying all around me. I had blood all over my body and I started to panic. Whose blood is this? What happened to everyone? Who attacked us?
Then I remember, we were at the lake having a training camp for that weekend. We were having a thrity minute break when the rogues attacked. We didn't stand a chance, I knew it from the start.
"Addie, run!" Aidan shouted, running towards the group of pups surrounded by the rogues as he shifted mid air.
I remember fighting and killing a few rogues, the taste of their blood still lingering in my mouth. It all happened very quick and I was caught off guard.
Three rogues were pinning Aidan down, another three biting and clawing him while the others from the pack fought desperately for their lives.
I wanted to help him. I wanted to rip the throat of the rogue who was trying to kill him. I wanted it so bad, but I couldn't. The two rogues in front of me wouldn't have that.
I fought the two, trying to end this fight as quickly as possible and help Aidan. Just as I was done with the two, I heard a crack followed by Aidan's body going limp.
My wolf quivered in anger as Aidan's white wolf laid under the six rogues, his body full of scratches and gashes, blood covering almost all of him.
That was when I lost it.
I saw red and my wolf took over. Everything that happened after was a blur.
I closed my eyes once again, trying to escape that horrible afternoon.
Remembering what happened next was useless because instead of getting images back, what filled my mind is the unbearable pain and throbbing at the back of my head.
Nevertheless, I tried to remember, but the throbbing only increased and everything became a haze. Before I knew it, darkness slowly welcomed me in its arms.
