Chapter 2
"Uhm," was my intelligent response.
'Think, Addie. Is it really safe to join them and risk your past catching up to you?' The wolf dwelling in me asked, not understanding her concerned nature towards me. She usually just leaves me alone and very much keeps to herself.
'But...I don't really have much of a choice do I?' I replied with another question. Yes, I already gave up life a long time ago, but I at least wanted to say goodbye to my family though. I wanted to tell them the truth of what really happened that day and maybe they can move on, get on with their lives and be happy again. I know for sure that they haven't got the answers they needed yet, the exact same answers that only I could give them.
I was fidgeting as I laid on the bed, not meeting their eyes. I've never been in this situation before and I admit, I had no idea what to do.
At the corner of my eyes, I saw Leon stand up and walked towards Jace, talking in whispers. They were scheming something, something I'm sure I wouldn't like. The thought made me uneasy. What are these guys up to now? And what are they planning?
"What do you mean join your pack?" I finally found the courage to ask. "I thought you're all for ripping gut and throats of those who trespass upon your territory," I mumbled as an afterthought. But this didn't go unheard making them chuckle in the slightest.
Leon, who had a serious face just seconds ago, turned around and showed me a huge grin on his face. "We can't share pack secrets with an outsider, cupcake. You've got to make a decision first," he said, winking at me.
"Don't worry. If you decide to join, nobody will judge you here," Jace added. He still had that emotionless expression in his face as if he didn't want anybody in. It feels like he's trying to distance himself from the people around him. What could have happened to make him act this way?
Leon stepped around Jace and started walking towards me, an amusement glint on his eyes. "Come, I wanna show you around," he grabbed my wrist and lifted me up from the bed. I growled at him as he stepped closer. Does this guy even know what personal space mean?
"Easy there. I was just helping," he tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear, ignoring me as I tried to swat his hands away, making him chuckle at me. "You're easy to piss off, you know that."
Jace turned and faced Leon and I. He looked past me to the person whose breath I can feel from behind me. "Leon, I'll leave you to take care of the matter here. I've got business to tend to," Jace said and left without even waiting for Leon's reply.
"What's up with him?" I asked Leon. He was now leading me outside the pack clinic, probably to show me around like he said. I'm not sure if showing me around would be a great idea seeing as I'm a rogue, people might be afraid of me. They probably would want me dead anyway than let me join their ranks.
"Oh, don't mind him. He's always like that," Leon said, shrugging at the same time.
"Always what?" I asked curiously. It's not everyday that I get to meet someone who's just like me, a Pureblod Alpha.
"A cold-hearted bastard," Leon turned to look at me with a serious face. "Kidding. He's actually pretty nice once you get to know him," he added, now smiling jokingly.
We continued walking. After a coupld of minutes, we reached the end of the hall way which opened into what seems like to be a lobby. There were a lot of people biding their time, talking casually with one another. They haven't noticed me yet making me suck in a deep breath, readying myself for the strike that was coming. But to my astonishment, nothing of the sort happened.
