I was like a zombie getting out of bed at 3 am , but I just had the urge to get up and go. I grabbed my phone and went to my car. I set it down and started my car, and thought I was missing something. My backpack. Which is an essential when I leave. I jogged back in and grabbed my black backpack, stuffed it with my phone charger, earbuds, water, and my sunglasses. Finally, I got back to my car and backed out. The sun was just coming up, the clouds were thin and whimsical. They looked like fluffy pink cotton candy. I was up at 3 am and I was still wearing my white shirt, with the pineapple on it and my black jogging shorts, wondering where I was going to go. Bzzzt, bzzzt, bzzzt bzzzt. Shoot it's my mom I think to myself.
"Hey, what's up?" I asked her.
"Hey Luke," she said in a worried tone, "Where are you?"
"I'm driving, why what's the matter?"
"I noticed you were gone and I really worry about where you're going with your life, you're always sneaking out and your attendance at school is almost non-existent, I just really care and want you to succeed but you're making it very hard for yourself," she said in a very shaky voice.
"Okay, I love you, bye," I said really quick and hung up. I pulled over and leaned back in my seat and just thought, Now's your time to leave, and now is your time to capture what you want. I looked up and saw the sign; "You're now leaving Wisconsin, please come back soon." I remember this sign, leaving Wisconsin to go see my cousin in college. She was in her first year and it was her birthday. It was very exciting and suspenseful as we got closer and closer to that sign. I just knew it, she was going to love it.
I quickly jerked the car in drive and drove toward the sign. My head is a tornado, deep in thought trying to grasp what I really am doing with my life.
"Hello, welcome to Minnesota Riverside Plaza"
"Hi, are you able to tell me what room Olivia Marie is in?"
"Uhm, can I ask what relation you have to her?" The lady at the desk asked.
"I'm her cousin Luke, I haven't seen her in a while I thought I would visit."
"Okay honey, she's in room 420." I smiled and waved as I walked out of the lobby and up to the elevators. I was up on the floor walking down the hall towards her room, I saw the room number in nice bold, and I knocked. Weird--no one answered. It is only 5 am. The door opened very quickly, and there was Olivia with a very angry face which quickly turned into a big smile and hug.
"Hey, What are you doing here!" She said very excitedly.
"Well, I woke up and drove and well, here I am. I was wondering if you would come with me?"
"Uhm, well, sure of course, just let me get dressed and pack some stuff." It only took her about 20 minutes before she was done and out in my car. We reached the highway leading straight to California. Bzzzt, Bzzzt, Bzzzt. I looked down, it was my mom again. Olivia just gave me a look, and I let it go to voicemail. I didn't want to talk to her right now.
"You know luke, she's probably worried about you."
"I know, I just-"
"You need to just talk to her, she is really trying to reconnect with you. After you know with your..." She sort of drifted off, as I interrupted her.
"Yeah what happened wasn't my fault, nor should she of made it seem that way." We both sat in silence for the rest of the drive.
