Katniss:

"Primrose Everdeen" The woman - Effie, I think her name is - calls. Prim. What do I do? Prim steps forward, making her way to the stage. What is happening? She glances back at me, her eyes filling with tears. Oh god, Prim. She'll never make it. Everything around me starts spinning, black spots appear in my vision and I feel faint. I fall to the floor, collapsed in a mess. I'm going to have to watch her die. "And now, for the boys." Effie calls. You can tell she was upset that, once again, a twelve year old would be sent to her death. "Peeta Mellark. Where are you? Ah! There. Come on up." Not him. Not Peeta. The boy I had been dating for a year. I can't lose both of them. "So, our two tributes. Give them a round of applause!" She smiles so over-enthusiastically. But Peeta and Prim receive not a single clap. Instead, every single person in the square touches the three fingers of their left hand to their lips and raises them high above their heads. It means thanks, it means admiration, and it means good-bye to a loved one. Prim and Peeta are hurried into the Justice building, where they wait to be taken away to the Capitol.

Prim:

Katniss told me that as long as I had my pin, nothing bad would happen to me. I guess she lied about that. She also promised me she would do all she could to protect me. I guess she lied about that too. She tells a lot of people things that aren't true. She makes promises she can't keep. Katniss is a wonderful sister, in fact she's the best sister I could ask for, but she lies. She lied to me about the games. She lied about keeping me safe. I don't know who my sister is any more.
