"I want him dead."

Aslar barged into Khan's office, uninvited, and slammed the door shut behind him before taking a seat opposite Khan. The Alpha glanced at him from his paperwork, his lips pursing in an disapproving manner, but it was ignored. Sighing, he put down his pen, focusing his attention on his Beta whose cold stare had yet to move from his face.

"You can't kill him."

Aslar's narrowed at his Alpha, watching the wolf stare down at him from across his desk. The office was warm, the small room painted a deep golden colour that the Beta couldn't help but turn his nose up at it. At Khan's words, he felt his stomach swirl with anger that the Alpha sensed immediately.

It had been a week since Anna's death, and although Aslar acted as if it wasn't bothering him - for the sake of their son - Khan knew that he was hurting.

And that is why he didn't tell his grieving Beta to watch his tone when he said, "You had better be joking."

"He's just a boy," Khan was quick to remind him.

After blacking out, Hades had remained unconscious for the second time since his arrival onto Khan's lands. The boy lay in the room above Khan's office, the Alpha ensuring that he was nearby at all times. Aslar had been prohibited from entering the room that was now heavily guarded until Khan decided that Hades was strong enough to defend himself.

Although, he couldn't deny that the young wolf had strength, even when he looked emaciated and weak.

Aslar eyed his Alpha for a few moments, before he realised that he was being entirely serious. He still felt the burning grief from the loss of his mate, but the rational part of him also knew that Hades was just a boy; his wolf was new.

It wasn't exactly his fault.

After the silence had passed, Aslar cleared his throat, speaking roughly as he asked, "Why is he here?"

Khan was reluctant to answer. Truth be told, he didn't even know what to say. He hadn't really thought of Hades until he'd saw him on the front porch of his enemy pack's house and when he'd left, the young wolf was just another boy who had a lot to learn. However, when he saw Hades on his lands, his first instinct was to kill the wolf for trespassing. But when he realised that his first shift was taking place, Khan felt remorseful and strangely protective.

He thought that the novelty would have worn off by now, but when he saw that Hades had fought back against his Beta, Khan knew that the future Alpha would be an asset to his pack. "He needs to be here," He said slowly, his gaze snapping away from Aslar's. "He needs our help."

Aslar's eyes narrowed, "He has a pack of his own. He doesn't need to be here at all." He felt irritation when Khan refused to answer him, "He's just extra baggage." Another moment of silence passed, "Does Cairo even know that he's here?"

"No," Was the curt reply.

The Beta looked back at Khan with disbelief. "What?"

Khan sighed, looking down at his companion, "He'll kill him when he finds him."

Aslar leaned back in his seat, shrugging as he crossed his arms over his chest, "Good riddance," He mumbled under his breath. But his words didn't go by unnoticed and he caught Khan's disapproving glare. "The boy can't stay here."

"He has a name," Khan huffed. "And Cairo won't be finding out because as soon as he's back, I'll send him on another mission."

His Beta's eyes narrowed, observing his Alpha's calm stance, "Why do you care so much?" He asked him. "He's just a boy."
