Prologue

“Zeus!”

The ruler of Olympus let out a loud, frustrated sigh. Hermes came galloping in with his iconic winged hat and shoes.

“Zeus!” he paused to catch his breath.

Zeus rolled his eyes.“What? I’m busy.” He muttered in a grumpy tone.

He was lying, the truth was he was getting antsy and when he was antsy he was grumpy. His daughter was going to be born any day now and Hera was getting on to him. He promised her he wouldn’t have any more relationships with humans but he couldn’t help himself with this one. She was simply delectable; her beauty was too distracting for him to bother any remembrance of a broken promise.

He was going to do all he could to keep his child a secret from Hera, at least until she was sixteen, the school would have her by then and keep her under their protection. For all Hera knew, it was just a one night fling; she didn’t know he got the human pregnant.

“She’s been born! She’s born!”

Zeus eyes widened in surprise then shook his head. “Keep your voice down!” He snapped. “Do you want her to hear you?!”

Hermes closed his mouth then whispered. “She’s been born! Your daughter!”

Zeus let out a quiet but happy chuckle. “What’s her name?”

Hermes took out a piece of paper and examined it. “The birth certificate says Jamey Lynn,”

The Ruler of Olympus shrugged. “Good enough I guess… You took the birth certificate?”

Hermes shook his head. “No, just a copy I grabbed when the nurse wasn’t looking”

He nodded with a smile but it soon faded. “How many have you told?” He asked a bit frantically. He knew for sure that Aphrodite would tell Hera. Perhaps Demeter; it might accidently come up in a conversation if Apollo or Ares were told the news.

“Only Hephaestus.” His face suddenly turned into a nervous expression. “Why? Should I have not told anyone?”

Zeus sighed and shook his head. “Do not tell anyone else, do you hear me? We both know how much Hera and Hephaestus hate each other. They avoid one another as much as possible. The day I die will be the day when Hephaestus starts gossiping with her.”

Hermes nodded. “Alright, my lips are sealed.”

Zeus leaned back in his chair and tried to relax. “My first half blood daughter...”

Suddenly, he smiled. “I bet she’ll have my looks, although, her mother was quite the looker as well.”

Hermes chuckled and rolled his eyes in a playful manner. Then he snapped his fingers. “Oh yes! Have you heard the news? Apollo and Hades both have half bloods as well! Of course, Hades just had his last week and Apollo just yesterday!”

Zeus’s smile faded. “Really? Male? Female?”

“Both male.”

Zeus rubbed his temples. “That could become a problem… Hades I mean, we both know Apollo means well.”

Hermes nodded stiffly. “Yes. We’ll have to keep an eye on the child. Hopefully, he won’t end up to much like his father…”

Suddenly a higher pitched voice called out. “Zeus, Sweetie?”

Zeus’s eyes widened. “You must go! If Hera sees you’re here she’ll know something is up! She knows we both confide into each other.”

Hermes nodded a bit timidly. “Right, right. I’ll be seeing you.”

Zeus nodded and gave him a slight push forward. “Hurry! I hear her footsteps.”

He nodded and disappeared in a puff of smoke.

“Zeus, Dear?” Hera’s voice came from behind him.

Zeus jumped slightly and laughed nervously. “Hello, my love.”

“Was Hermes here? I thought I heard his voice.”

Zeus stroked his beard, trying to be calm. “No, of course not, why would he come?”

Hera stared at her husband in distain and put her hands on her hips.

“Zeus, I swear on Mount Olympus, if you’re lying to me-“

“Alright! He was here; he came to tell me… That Apollo just had a half blood yesterday.”

She scoffed and rolled her eyes. “A half blood? Disgusting to say the least, I don’t understand why Gods waste such powerful blood on humans. Getting them pregnant while there are plenty of other eligible Gods waiting for them.”

Zeus shrugged. “What can I say? You know only my most loyal will listen to me if I ban those types of things. And that’s only you and Hermes, Aphrodite is the Goddess of love for crying out loud, trust me, there’s no stopping her.”

She crossed her arms and started to walk away. “Sometimes, this Goddess stuff can be hard.” She sighed, a bit dramatically.

Zeus gave her a knowing look from behind. You’re telling me… he thought and leaned his hand on his cheek with a thoughtful look.

A little known fact was that there were two things that made Zeus shudder when they were mad. The Titans, which he could manage most of the time, with the help of others of course. And Hera that was one side of her that he didn’t want to see again, but, he feared that side may be revealed when his daughter turned sixteen.

“Pray for me, Jamey.” He muttered when he saw the copy of her birth certificate by his feet. Hermes must have left it there on purpose. He leaned down in his throne and picked up the paper.

Thank the Titans that Hera didn’t see it. She was too caught up in her rant about half bloods to notice it. He folded the paper and hid it in the folds on his robe.

Sadly, those sixteen years seemed to fly by.

I just hope I'll stick with it. So uh..... I guess that is all.

Wait! I'd just like to say sorry if there is any spelling or grammar mistakes and what not. The usual blah blah blh.
