Chapter 4

After we had left the front office I looked down the main hallway. There were eleven giant sculptures that stuck out.

“Who are these guys?” I snorted.

Jackson rolled his eyes. “Who do you think?! The Gods! Hello!”

The sculptures towered over me; a set down the middle that had three, and another three on each side of the walls that had four. Each looked like a piece of art as they all were beautifully detailed and seemed to be carved out of the best looking marble that was out there.

“So, who are who?”

Jackson gasped and paled slightly, “How do you not know which one is which?!”

I shrugged. “Don’t know what they look like, I kind of know what they are the Gods of, I guess?”

“Well, this guy.” He pointed to the male statue, the first one in the middle row. “This is Zeus the ruler of all, Lord of the Sky!”

I looked up at the statue’s beady, marble eyes and almost felt the electricity surge through them. They seemed to put in a trance and for a moment I had no idea where I was.

“…Amey…? Ow! Jamey!”

I jumped and stared at Jackson for a moment as he shook his finger like it was in pain.

“What?” I snapped.

He frowned at me and I blushed. “Sorry, spaced out, what did you say?”

“I was explaining more about the Gods but you spaced out while looking at the statue. Then you shocked me when I poked you to get your attention!”

I sighed. “I’m sorry”

He gave me a small smile and continued to speak. “So anyways, the two statues behind Zeus are his brothers, Poseidon and Hades. Poseidon, being the ruler of the sea and Hades ruler of the underworld.” He mentioned matter-of-factly.

I nodded and followed him to another row of three that all seemed to be girls.

“In front of this row is Hera, Zeus’s wife and Goddess of children and marriage, then there’s Aphrodite, who is the Goddess of love and beauty.”

I nodded and he continued. “Then there’s Demeter, she’s the Goddess of harvesting and agriculture.”

He walked to the last one and pointed to her.

“And last but not least is Athena, Goddess of war, very wise and strategic.”

“Wait, isn’t there another girl Goddess? What’s her name… She has the arrows, very independent…”

“Oh, you mean Artemis?”

I snapped my fingers. “Yeah!”

“Yes, she’s a Goddess but she is so independent that she can’t stand men and doesn’t have any children, obviously. I mean, you could join her group of hunters but you’d have to swear yourself to them and that means no boys.” He responded, trying to make it sound like something from a horror movie.

I pretended to shiver. “So scary…”

He narrowed his eyes and I smiled at him playfully.

“Any who, she’s not on here because she doesn’t have any children, but she is respected so don’t say anything about her that could be deemed as offensive, the Gods would be coming for  your butt for decades if they hear you said something like that.”

“I’ll keep that in mind.”

I walked to the other side of the hallway and paused at the last row of sculptures. “And last but not least?” I asked as he came marching over.
