Chapter 3
I slowly opened my eyes and saw nothing but white and a bright light. I squinted and tried to get up but suddenly felt a sharp pain in my left arm. “Ouch,” I muttered and laid back down. I tried to sit up again but this time with my right arm and rubbed my eyes.
Suddenly, I remember everything that happened with a gasp. The mutant dog, the boy, and me jumping out of the car, then being knocked out by something that hit my shoulder.
“Great! You’re up!” I heard someone say.
I jumped slightly and jerked my head to the door. I saw a woman with short brown hair almost most like an afro but it was spiky and a little too short for it to be classified as one. She entered the room with big brown eyes that sparkled to see me up.
“Where am I?” I asked and took a moment to look around the room I was in.
It was clean to say the least, the walls were white and the only things that stuck out were twelve mobiles hanging around the room. Each one was different and all of them were equally beautiful. “I love this room.” She said when she saw that I was looking around. She smiled and then remembered I asked a question. “Anyway, to answer your question, you’re at The Academy of Olympus in Olympia, Washington.”
My eyes bugged, that was at least an hour from my house. My mother was probably worried sick… Wait, did she just say Olympus, as in Mount Olympus, where those stupid Gods are supposed to live or whatever?
“Wait” I said, trying to be polite. “Has that boy gotten to your head too? I mean come on! The Greek Gods? Really?”
“You mean Jackson? I know it sounds crazy, but trust me. After your first day you’ll believe.”
'Jackson' came walking in, then he frowned. “Oh man, I thought you would sleep for another day! I wanted to get out of school again! Mrs. Matta, did you wake her up? Oh, by the way how’s your husband?”
Mrs. Matta snorted and said “No! She woke up herself! He’s fine and hasn’t had a seizure in weeks! Maybe even months!”
I raised an eyebrow and Jackson gave me a look that said I’ll explain later.
“By the way, how’s your cheek?”
I looked at the bottom of his face and to my surprise I saw it bandaged up with white gauze. Then I remembered when the mutant dog, or apparently, Cerberus scratched his face when it swiped its paw at him.
“It feels fine!” he said in a cheerful voice. Just as he said that he flinched.
Mrs. Matta rolled her eyes. “Do you need more peroxide?”
He shook his head. “Nah, I should be fine.” He tried to hide a flinch with a grin.
“Boys and their stupid pride…” She muttered.
He gave her a sheepish grin in returned and winked at me.
She saw Jackson look at me and she shook her head. “Oh yes, back to her. Hun, do you mind telling me your name?”
“Jamey Thompson.”
“Ok Miss Thompson I’ll be right back with your schedule, ok?”
“Wait! I never said I wanted to join this school! What about my family and friends?”
Mrs. Matta sighed and spoke. “We alerted your mother already. She is going to make something up for your sister and your other father. As for the kids at your school, they think you were in an accident. We had the school say that no one can visit you because of how serious it was.”
