Chapter 2
I frowned to myself. Surely, the car was someone visiting a neighbor, right? Why would a car like that follow me?
Then it hit me. The person in the car was probably coming after me. I quickened my pace, just to see what the car would do. Sure enough, it speeded up a little as well.
I finally reached my bus stop and started to tap my foot impatiently. Where was everyone? Dylan, a close friend of mine, usually always beats me here.
Now, there was no one to be seen.
I looked at the parked Mercedes out of the corner of my eye. The windows were tinted so I couldn’t see the driver.
Why today?! I thought with despair. Of all days this weirdo decides to take me on the day of my test. Let alone my birthday!
Too caught up in my thoughts, I didn’t notice the crack that was starting to form in the middle of the road.
I let out a loud sigh, still oblivious to the large crack in the road slowly starting to get bigger.
Suddenly everything started to shake, causing me to practically lose my balance, well, I would have someone didn’t catch me from the side.
I yelped in surprise and stumbled away from the person that caught me, making me fall on my side. I looked up at the boy in embarrassment and fear. Was he the one that was in the car? He looked about a year or two older than me. Amusement flashed in his eyes then turned stony with seriousness.
The shaking came to an abrupt end and I slowly stood up.
“I need you to get in the car.” The boy said. His chocolate brown eyes held the same seriousness but also a calming side as well. He jerked his head at the Mercedes to show which car he was talking about, making his curly light brown hair bounce slightly. Yep, he was the person in the car.
“You’re funny.” I snickered but no humor seemed to come out of the sentence. I sounded like I was scared which, actually, in truth it was how I really felt.
He started to step towards me with an arm held out but just as quickly I stepped back.
“I’m not going anywhere with you.” I stated, a bit shakily.
“You have to.” He said, still holding that stony expression, if I would have known him better I would bet that he was very friendly, considering the amusing glances I got right before he turned serious.
Definitely cute but not my type.
I started to back up a few steps more.
“No wait!-“
I bumped into something from behind. It felt almost… furry? Slowly, I looked up and came face to face with three large heads, dog heads to be exact. One head leaned down and sniffed me. I closed my eyes and held my breath as if let out a huff and made my hair sway from the dog produced air.
I felt the other two noses probe my scalp as I winced at each cold sniff. Suddenly, they all seemed to growl in recognition. I let out a “Meep” in surprise and tensed.
“You need to move.” The boy said slowly while not looking away from the three giant dog things. I nodded stiffly. His arm reached down to his waist where his belt was. What he took out surprised me a bit. It looked like trash in my opinion. It only seemed to be shredded pieces of leather all stuck together.
I raised an eyebrow slightly and his face showed the hint of a smirk run across his face.
“On the count of three, alright?”
