Chapter 1: The Love of a Family

Takuma felt an usual feeling in his chest, it had made his heart well up. It made him breathless, yet also have confidence.

Looking down, the cause of these emotions were from the little infant sleeping in his arms.

The despair and sadness of Zero's death had cause a deep pain that effected not only his emotional state but also his mental.

Although his lover's death was devastating, there was hope. There always was hope.

That hope came in the form of Haruki Ichijou.

It took so much in his power to not weep pathetically in front of his newborn son, it was hard yes but if one believed in oneself, anything could happen.

Takuma had asked the doctors to give him the body of his lover, to give him a proper burial. Of course, they said yes. Before Takuma was about to finally leave the hospital, the doctors did a quick check-up on the infant. Seeing that everything was okay with not only the baby but the father too, Takuma was let out.

He was never seen in that area, again...

-----Time Skip-----

The young master is here...

Have you heard of the rumors?

What rumors?

A lot of the servants have been told that the young master was adopted.

W-what no way!

You're new, I've been here for years. I once saw the young master's real hair color. It was brown.

B-but----oh he's looking our way.

The voices, they all were the same. Young Haruki hears them everyday yet it always makes him feel...lonely.

"Father, why do the servants always say those things?" He remembered the many times he had asked his father that. Always unknowing of what was going on, always left out.

"Haruki..." His father kneeled down to get to his eye level, "It doesn't matter what they are saying. They no nothing. You are my son and that's that." He remembered the follow-up kiss that was placed on his forehead.

His father always told him to never listen to all those maids and butlers. He always listens of course but he gets harder and harder everyday.

"YOUNG MASTER!"

Haruki alarmingly looked up to see his tutor, Kaito Takamiya. The man looked down at him with narrowed eyes.

"H-hai?"

"You didn't answer my question."

"Excuse me, what question were you asking, sensei?"

Haruki looked about ready to burst in to tears at any given point now.

Takamiya stared in those lavender eyes, Zero...

Snapping out of his trance, Takamiya's face soften.

"Did you complete the homework that I had last given you."

Hearing this, the five year old brightened up quickly. Of course he had finished, he wanted to make his mom proud.

His mom...

His father had told him about his mom. He remembers his father talking about how beautiful his mother was. He was kind, smart, and brave. He died giving birth to Haruki...

He once asked his father how he met mother, since a lot of movies do that. But he was only met with a grimaced and pained face. Did something bad happen?

Haruki ran his little hands through his soft sandy hair and grabbed the homework lying in his desk, and he ran back to his sensei.

"Sensei, here it is!"

"Took you long enough, brat."

Looking around nervously, Haruki fidgeted. Should he ask? But maybe he doesn't know mom? Mayb---

"What do you want?"

"Ano...sensei, what type of person was my mom?" Haruki looked up to surprised hazel eyes staring back at him.

"I've always wanted to hear stories about him but whenever I ask father, he starts to shake. Was mommy a nice person? Was I the cause of mommy's death like what everyone's saying."

A solid minute has passed with the sound of silence and soft cries of the little vampire.

With a soft sigh, Takamiya rubbed his temple. What a frustrating day... How do you consult a child? Zero and Ichiru weren't like this...

"Haruki, get it together. Your mother wouldn't want you crying." Still the faint crying was still there.

Takamiya tried something else.

"Your mom was my best friend and my partner."

With that, Haruki started to quiet down and look up in amaze. Sensei knew mother.

"He was one of the top hunters to ever roam this planet and he played an important part in killing Rido Kuran. Although, ending a vampire's death was his job, he wasn't a bad person. He was a well-respected individual."

Mother really did all those things... Vampire hunters... Could I be one, too?

"You are not the cause of Zero's death..."

Haruki stood in silence. Frozen.

"You weren't...because if you were...I would have killed you."

"T-then why did mommy die?" Fear crept in his voice, as in the back of his mind, a voice was telling him to be quiet.

"Let me tell you a secret. You're mother's death was cause by the filthy Kuran family. They MURDERED him."
