DAY 2: REBEL AND THE ROMANTIC, FRIENDS?

Going to a new school sucks, majorly. Everyone already had friends, and I was stuck with the “populars”, they kinda took me in, but it wasn’t like I was interested in joining them. The worst part was lunch, I had nowhere to sit, the “populars” sat at one table and that table was always extremely crowded. Usually I would go outside, but today was to cold. Especially because I was being an idiot and forgot my jacket.

I sighed, “Where the heck would I eat now?”

Then a genius idea struck, I would go to the library, that’s it! It’s warm in there and I could even get caught up on my work. So I snatched up my lunch and strolled in the halls of Uxbridge High until I reached the library. I stepped in tentatively, this usually wasn’t my scene. But it didn’t matter now, I found a comfy chair and sank into its plush cushions and unwrapped my sandwich. Someone poked me, “You do know that food isn’t allowed in the library right?”

I let out a soft squeal. I turned around and saw Zoelle; I let out a sigh of relief. At least it wasn’t the librarian, although Zoelle isn’t much better. She still hasn’t been cured of total awkwardness and weirdness. Then I heard it, soft snickers. I turned around and to my astonishment it was Zoelle!

“What?” I asked feeling a little self-conscious “Is there a frog in my hair?”

Zoelle grinned and mimicked me squealing. “Oh you should have seen your face!” she giggled.

I rolled my eyes. Eventually she stopped laughing and sobered up.

“Technically you’re not supposed to eat in here but I have my little place in the library where that’s allowed. Mostly because that’s where I eat every day.” She smiled and fixed her shirt.

I got up and swiftly shoved my sandwich back into its package and followed Zoelle. I decided that I liked this new Zoelle, she was more open and friendly and just more humorous to be around. She led me to this little nook at the back of the library where the last shelf of books was a few metres away from the wall. Piled in that small area were heaping stacks of books.

Zoelle spoke, “I usually stay during all lunch. Honestly it much better than the cafeteria, those hormonal teenagers are absolutely ridiculous! Well, I’m a hormonal teenager too but, yeah.”

I wholeheartedly agreed the library seemed like a nice cozy place to stay during lunch. So I sat down and munched on my sandwich. Zoelle sat down next to me and tilted her head to the side, “So what brings you here?”

“Well, the cafeteria is too loud, crowded, and frankly, just pisses me off.” I replied straightforwardly.

“Yup, I feel that way too,” she told me, “People can be so…”

She trailed off. I didn’t want to push her so I continued eating my sandwich. A silence settled in this little piece of the school. Zoelle plucked up a book from one of the stacks and started to read leaning against the wall.

“So,” I said getting up and stretching, “Are you a big reader?”

“Uh huh,” she replied shutting her book, “But I swear, I am THE hugest fan of romance books! I mean, I wish I could have someone to woo me like in so many books. But most of all I am DYING to read Twilight. I can’t believe that I’ve been neglecting it for so long! But OH MY GOODNESS, it sound so amazing!” She was rambling, but I’ve never seen her so animated before.

I smirked lazily, “You are such a loser, Twilight sucks, stupid Edward and expressionless Bella.”

Zoelle gasped in disbelief, “YOU ARE KIDDING?! WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!? Twilight is the most amazing book series EVER! You don’t understand a thing about romance!”

I couldn’t hold it in anymore, I giggled and soon enough I was howling with laughter.

“Humph!”

Suddenly I heard footsteps coming over. Crap! The librarian must have heard us! Zoelle’s eyes widened and started freaking out silently. She looked so absurd that I started to laugh again. I took a step back and tripped over a stack of books and went toppling over. I fell smack into a shelf of books and slid down onto my bum.

Zoelle gasped and took a step towards me, “Are you alright?”

I felt fine, I was just surprised. I didn’t fall that hard onto the bookshelf.

Suddenly we heard a loud thump; I turned around to see that the self I fell against had teetered over and knocked down another shelf. The domino effect continued until there was a final thunderous boom as the last shelf fell to the ground. I could see the librarian’s shocked face looking at the enormous mess we had made.

The librarian looked up, “YOU AND YOU! DID YOU MAKE THIS MESS?!”

Zoelle opened her mouth to speak but all that came out was, “Um, uh, Miss, well…”

I rolled my eyes, “Yes it was us, I’m terribly sorry and I was wondering how we can make it up to you.”

The librarian’s eyes narrowed, “Well, you two will be here as volunteers until summer!”

She spun around and marched away muttering under her breath. When she turned around the corner Zoelle and I looked at each other and erupted into uncontrollable laughter.

“Did you see her face?” Zoelle gasped between breaths.

“Oh yeah,” I replied laughs shaking my body. The punishment wasn’t too bad and hanging out with Zoelle seemed pretty cool.

And that my friend is how I, the Rebel became best friends with the Romantic.

A/N

Well, I have nothing to say, actually I do, and that’s why there is an author’s note.

But anyway I was being a totally lazy person (as always) and didn’t want to type another chapter but my good ol’ buddy Sam posted another chapter to her story so I couldn’t let that inspiration go to waste. Anywho this was 1000 words so Sam you had better thank me! Oh! And a big humongous thank you for everyone who read this!

Later Gators!
