"Kai" the one word that ran wild in my mind. It could be a wisper like the wind or a scream like a banshee. But it was always the one thing I thought about.
"It was a distraction" I mumbled out loud, trying to catch my breath from running rampant through the forest. "Thats the only thing it could be"
"What are you talking about?" Abby huffed in between pants.
"We need to get back to the shack thing" I state "once we're there we can check if anyone's been there"
"But why would that mean Kai was here? Wouldn't she have come see us?" Alexis asked confused.
"No, not if she thinks her bite will affect her" Abby said slowly, catching on to what I was saying.
"Yeah, she's protecting us"
"Oh" is all Alexis could say. "I still miss her though" she said after a long pause.
