I'm sitting behind the RV when my dad starts talking. I don't know why they dragged me along. I could have just stayed at the compound. I roll my eyes and listen in. "Eeny meeny miny moe..." Why is he saying that? I put my bookmark on the page and shut my book. I crawl silently to the edge and peek around the RV.
"You are it." He points Lucille at a man kneeling on the ground. He looks pretty well built. He has orange, curly hair and mustache. He's looking at my dad almost threatening like. Dad raises Lucille over his head and hits the man.
Everyone screams. "No!" I look over to see a boy around my age in a sheriff hat yelling. "Please!" A dark skinned woman screams as he brings Lucille down again. "Abraham!" A Latina woman yells.
So that was his name. Abraham. A few guys pick up Abe by his arms and legs and carry the body to a truck. They put everyone in the group into separate vans. My dad comes around the other side of the RV. "A, what are you doing? I thought you were reading your book." He helps me up. "Sorry dad, I heard yelling and I wanted to see what was happening."
He pulls me into a hug. "Are you okay?" I nod. "I'm fine." I decide to leave out the part that I really think what he did was wrong. "Good. Let's go home." We walk ou to the car and get in. We drive back to the compound.
