The Girl with Black Feathers. Book 1

The Search Begins.

Leraina's POV

  I stared at this man who had just poofed out of nowhere to tell me I'm ADOPTED, have a younger, twin brother, and was a minor goddess of the underworld.

Soon my head began to ache, and I began to laugh, even I was sure I'd lost it.

  "You. your crazy" i said, shaking slightly. "I'm not some magical "goddess" with quotation marks on the last word, as my maniacal laughter subsides.

  The man sighed. "I guess I'll have to bring you home to show you" he said with a snap, and we were suddenly in a dark palace with bouquets of precious jewel flowers. And the occasional skull. At an open door (if you could call it that it was more like a giant's garden gate) there was a man wearing all black, jeans, shirt, and shoes, so was the woman beside him.   

  They were both smiling and as you came closer they pulled you into an embrace that was highly unexpected and when they released me I backed up a bit.
 
  They then turned to the man "has her curse been lifted" they asked this strange man.

  I wasn't really paying attention though, I was thinking of the familiarity of their hug, it wasn't a bad hug, the couples skin was cool and the woman smelled like pomegranate, and the man like something bitter and sad, yet sweet. It hit me who they were, Persephone, and Hades, the King and Queen of the underworld. And they man who claimed to be my father... He was Thanatoes. The one who brought souls to the underworld.

  I felt a cold hand on my shoulder, snapping me back to reality.. if you could even call it that. My "father" spoke. "yes lord Hades, Leraina has finally broken that accursed spell Aphrodite had place on her as a baby."

  "What spell" I asked my curiosity finally getting the better of me.

  "The mortality curse" Persephone said after a few moments silence,
"Aphrodite was scared of a prophecy, and had stripped the powers you get from your immortality for the last 15,000 years."

  "Why me" I ask not really realizing what she had said.

  "Because darling, you were prophesied to become more.. let's say attractive then her, inside and out."

  "Why didn't someone just break the spell" I was on a roll now, it was confusing, all this knew information.

  "We tried dear, for years we've tried, but Aphrodite IS older than all the other gods and this was her top of the line magic" it was Hades who spoke this time.

  "But no matter, let's see if your magic was still able to develop, think of something, anything, you want to do. And try to will it to happen." a sudden smile came to my face. So I began thinking.

??? POV

  The ground was trembling with immense power, so it was NOT an earthquake and we were beginning to think Gaea was early on her death threat.

  I was running around preparing like everyone else, weapons, armor. But then the trembling stopped and 24 booming voices descended from the sky and rose from the earth.

  "THE PROPHESIED ONE HAS RETURNED CHILDREN, TREAT HER AS YOU WOULD TREAT EACH OTHER, AND LOVE HER AS YOU LOVE YOURSELVES.

  "Well" I say sarcastically after a full 10 minutes of silence. "someone important is back."

A blonde girl turned to me;

  "No" she said. "really?! WHAT IN HADES GAVE YOU THAT IDEA!" She yelled sarcastically back,and I felt a tugging sensation in my gut telling me Father needed me... in the Underworld.
