Chapter 2
After I grabbed the water and washed her feet, I looked over the new list she had given me while I was rubbing her tootsies. This one included the extra thirty-one chores I earned. Since I always have twenty chores in the first place, I now have fifty-one. Perfect.
"It's for your own good, Destiny!"
She would always say. Sure, if it was good for me than shouldn't it be even better for my two stuck-up stepsisters? I sigh again. I am never going to be able to figure her out.
I scanned the list. Near the top was my regular chores.
Make breakfast. Remember that Luna is on a strict no carb diet so absolutely NO carbs for her. I suggest pancakes and sausage.
Great. How am I supposed to make 'carb free' pancakes? Lets hope they don't realize that you can't make carb free pancakes. If they do, then I am toast.
I get started on the sausage and I mix the pancake batter. Soon the kitchen is filled with the aroma of breakfast delicacies. I plate them and rush to the rooms where my stepfamily are probably lounging around while I work myself ragged. Typical.
I enter 'Mom's' room first. I hand her the platter and leave. As if in cue, I hear her gagging and spitting out the food. I know she does it to annoy me, but a small part of me hurts when it happens.
Lexa is next. She is always the hardest for me, considering we are the same age. Lets just say that it is disheartening to know that you could be treated like a queen, but instead, you are working like a slave. To a sister you never had. Who is also the same age.
I knock softly on her door. No one answers. I knock louder. I hear an exasperated sigh as she answers, "Well, let yourself in." I come in, balancing the plate on my hand. Handing it to her, she says, "Destiny, I want you to organize my shoe closet today. They have to be organized by shape, shade, size, and date I got it. Understand?" She smirked, knowing I couldn't do anything about it.
I nodded. "Yes."
As I left, I thought about what just happened. Organizing isn't so bad..I thought.
Then the thought popped in my mind.
Oh no.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
Lexa has over a million pairs of shoes. Which are probably not paired. Which means I have to find a pair for a shoe in two million other shoes. Plus I have to organize them by shape, shade, size, and date! How is that even possible? Thank you Lexa for making my life even more miserable. Yay.
To take my mind off her shoe conspiracy, I sauntered to Luna's room. Knocking, I hear a shrill, "Come in!" Yup. That's Luna. Contrary to popular belief, a person with the name 'Luna' is not peaceful and serene like the moon. At least not this Luna. I gave her breakfast and left. At least she isn't making me more miserable, unless you count that pounding headache I always seem to get whenever I am around her.
Breakfast, check. One down, Fifty-one to go. Thanks again, Lexa.
