Chapter 5
As Bryson and I passed 'Madam's' bedroom on our way to hook up the laptop up in my room, I faintly heard whispering. Desperately, I wanted to eavesdrop, but I couldn't do that with Bry around.
Inwardly sighing, I climbed the creaking steps that lead into my room.
As we stood up there, if you could call it standing because the ceiling is only four feet high, Bryson looked frantically around, as if he was confused or lost.
"Um Destiny, where is an outlet?"
I laughed. As if Syvilia would let me have an outlet. Wait....what's an outlet?
He looked back at me weirdly.
"Why are you laughing?" he asked.
"Because," I responded, "you would really think that Syvilia would let me have an outlet! What are you, crazy?"
He looked back at me with a hurt look in his eyes.
He said, "Well, have you even looked for one?"
I was cornered with that question.
"No..."
"So let's look, shall we?" He told me, his fire blazing yet again in his eyes. He loved to be right. Typical male.
A/N note: that phrase was just to be funny. if you find it offending, please let me know. thank you. Now....back to the story
After what seemed an hour, although in reality it must have only been five minutes, Bryson had the brilliant idea to look behind the dresser after evaluating that it was the only spot left to hide an outlet. Note sarcasm on the word 'brilliant.' It took a long time, not to mention arm strength I never knew I had, to move that big, heavy, stupid red blob. Thank goodness all that work paid off.
I wish.
"Bry," I said, "remind me why we're moving this again?"
"So that you can finally become undeprived and live like a normal person." He answered.
If you call living like this normal...I thought and almost said.
Instead, I replied, "Is 'undeprived' even a word?"
"Oh, Destiny, you are too funny, questioning my grammar like that. Everyone knows I am the absolute best at English."
"Sure..."I trailed, focusing more on the task at hand. How in the world do you move a one hundred pound dresser? Well maybe I'm not thinking this through. I mean, there is a nice hunk of muscle that can easily move-oh goodness, what am I thinking? Bad Destiny, Bad!
"Do you think you could move this by yourself?" my tongue said, moving without my will." I am soooo tired."
"Sure. I'll just move this four hundred pound dresser by myself. It'll be easy." he said, a frown etching his face.
Overdramatic, much? I mean, hello, I only thought it was one hundred.
"Ugh, fine." I said, "I'll help you."
Slowly but surely, the dresser moved away from the wall.
"Yes!" Bryson exclaimed. Putting his hand over his chest and kneeling while his other hand entwined on the outlet, he finished his speech. "I have long searched for you, my love. Through hardship and turmoil I-"
There I cut him off. I mean seriously, this guy should really take drama class. "What's the big deal?" I questioned. "That's just a--Oh." That makes sense. I guess I just never connected the word 'outlet' with the word 'plug-ins'.(what I used to call outlets) "He he. Um, I actually do have one of those behind my bed. I call those 'plug-ins'." I said sheepishly.
He looked at me quizzically and finally decided to do something. Yes, as you guessed it, it was dramatic. He threw his hands into the air while walking out and saying, "I will never figure you out, Destiny."
"Uh, Bry?" I said, "Before you leave, can you set up the laptop for me?"
