1.friends and enemies

Clara groaned as she tried to open her eyes and take in her surroundings.

"Why the hell is everything upside down?" she grumbled while searching for Arix, who was missing from her boot. She sighed as she realized that she was a) hanging from a ceiling, b) missing her favorite blade that was forged in the fires of Mt. Erasidus in the 3rd circle of Hell, and c) she seemed to be hanging from the ceiling of a boys' locker room.

Damn, the Daraxi have some weird hideout choices. she thought as she struggled to undo the ropes around her ankles.

"Are you missing an Araken blade by any chance?"

Clara turned her head to see who was speaking and was surprised by what she saw.

He seemed inhumanly gorgeous. Clara wouldn't have been surprised if he wasn't human considering her current situation. His violet eyes seemed to peer into her soul as he studied her while twirling Arix in his hands.

"Hey! Give that back!" She whisper-shouted at the man, in case any Daraxi were nearby.

"Say please!"

She sighed.

"Please."

"Was that so hard?" He teased as he cut the rope connecting Clara to the ceiling and tossed the blade to her when she was back on her feet. She turned her head to face him. Clara felt small in her 5'11 frame compared to his 6'2.

"Who are you, and where are the Daraxi?" Clara questioned.

"I'm Viktor, and dead. Well, actually back in Hell since you cant really kill demons. I used your blade if you don't mind. How on Earth did you get an Araken blade, might I ask? They are so hard to--"

"Shhhhhh! Blimey, you've got quite the gob, haven't ya?"

"Wow, you're British?"

"Nope," Clara said, popping the p, "I'm just practicing for when I make my way back to London. Where are we right now, anyways?"

"Ummmmm, I think we're under the Superdome..."

"In New Orleans?" He nodded. "Louisiana?" He nodded again. "No wonder I feel so nauseous!"

He grimaced,"Yeah, I hate travelling through dimensional portals."

She kept glancing at his eyes as they made their way through the tunnels under the Superdome. Apparently, Viktor was a top notch demon hunter, which surprised Clara, because she was the most well-known demon hunter in all the regions of Heaven and Hell at only 21 years of age, yet she had never heard the name Viktor. In fact, she thought she was the only demon hunter on Earth in 100 years. Throughout the entire conversation, she kept glancing at his eyes. There was just something about them that triggered alarms in Clara's head.

He's not human, she thought, He can't be.

"Ummm, Clara?"

"Shush! I'm thinking!"

"Clara!" Viktor hissed.

"What?" She growled. "What could you possibly w--oh."

Clara glanced up to see that they were on the field of the Superdome, surrounded by Daraxi, their human shapes and completely pupil-less eyes staring at them.

"Run?" Viktor asked.

"No way, Jose!" Clara said as she drew Arix out of her boot and glared at the surrounding Daraxi. "Let's blow this popsicle stand."
