The warm water seemed to loosen all the muscles in my neck and shoulders, but did nothing to help the shock that had overloaded my system. I could hear Archer and Keèrie calling me and continuous knocking at the door, but it went straight through me. I didn't even bother to acknowledge them. I mean I could of if I wanted to, I just didn't want to. I didn't want to do anything.
I clambered out of the shower numbly and wrapped myself in the bath robe that hung limply from the back of the door, I hadn't used it before but it seemed a good enough time to use it. I decided to go back to my room, I forgot locking the bedroom door behind me but obviously I had as I could hear the two vampires arguing over something, but again I didn't bother to listen too hard. I sat in the armchair Archer had occupied earlier, thinking of him only made it harder to not think about Michelle.
Michelle.
I needed to get her back before she was hurt. Before they hurt her anymore. Oh I knew, who had taken her, Kaine and Alex. And I was going to get her back. But before I could I needed to make a decision that would probably haunt me for the rest of my existence.
If I wanted to get Michelle back, I'd couldn't do it like this. I couldn't stay human and fight a vampire for my cousins life, I needed to make that decision.
I wanted to help so desperately, but I'd have to be turned and I don't know specifically how long that would take. And if it would make any difference, to my cousins life, as it hung in the balance. She needed me, she had been the one to help me and my brother after my mother had died and so soon after her parents died. I don't know how she did it at all. She was strong, and now I'd have to be strong for her.
I knew what I had to do. The full moon was only a couple of days away, I knew she'd hold out long enough. At least I hoped. My attention was caught by the endless chiming of the clock, nine o'clock! Where had all the time gone.
I stood from the chair noticing for the first time how stiff I felt from sitting still so long, and the eerie quiet that enveloped the house. I unlocked the door and pocked my head out of the door. I stepped back into my room and sat on the bed, "Archer." I knew he'd hear me and there was no point in wasting my time wandering around for him if could just sit back and make him run around instead.
"Are you okay?" His voice was quiet and I heard the faint click as the door shut behind him. I looked up and his eyes were black, sinister almost. The anger that welled up in him made something within me click, and a sudden realisation hit me. He was a hunter, the worlds greatest predator and he was in the same room as me. But I wasn't scared, I knew that the anger that was being held inside of him wasn't aimed at me. I was scared for those who it was aimed at. He noticed my calculating and took a deep breath.
"No Archer I'm not okay. But you already knew that." My voice was a simple and low monotone that made him and me wince slightly, I sounded dead.
He shifted slightly then he was suddenly in front of me, "I'll get her back. You can trust me." He sat on the edge of the bed, he absently brushed his fingers up and down my calf. As his eye searched mine, I didn't even try hiding the resolve. The touch of his fingers made me shiver slightly but I don't think he noticed. I straightened my back and pushed myself further into the armchair.
