The way you treat me is not a reflection

of what's in your heart

5.

Jimin sat next to Jungkook at their usual lunch table. Jungkook was showing Taehyung something on his phone and Namjoon and Jin were talking about something Jimin couldn't hear. Hoseok was texting avidly.

"Hobie, who're you texting?" asked Jimin, leaning over to look at his screen. Hoseok covered it quickly.

"My girlfriend." said Hoseok proudly. Jimin blanched. Jin and Namjoon stopped talking and Taehyung spit out his salad.

"A-A girlfriend?" asked Taehyung.

Hoseok blinked. "What?"

"No it's just . . ." Jin started.

"We thought you were gay, dude. Why else would you hang out with us?" asked Jungkook.

"Because you're my friends?"

"Well, I'm happy for you, Hobie." smiled Jimin, patting him on the shoulder.

"Thanks, Jiminie."

"It's still weird." muttered Jungkook. Jimin went back to surveying the lunch room for a particular someone and everyone else went back to talking.

"Who're you stalking? That jerk face?" whispered Jungkook. Jimin's face hardened.

"Jimin has a boyfriend!?" screeched Jin.

"How the fuck did you get 'boyfriend' from 'jerk face'?"

Jin shrugged. "Honestly, I dunno."

"And no he's not my boyfriend. He's just a pain." mumbled Jimin.

"Are we talking about Min Yoongi? I thought you two had some falling out or something."

Jimin scowled. "We did."

"Then why are you stalking him?" asked Taehyung. Jimin was about to answer when he caught sight of a certain bunch of silver hair in the corner of the room. Yoongi was leaning against the wall, his headphones on and a large history book in front of him. He could feel Jimin's eyes on him but didn't look up.

"He still likes him, duh." mumbled Jungkook.

"Ohhh."

"I do not." argued Jimin.

"Then you wouldn't still be interested." protested Jungkook.

"I'm just making sure he's here . . ."

"Stalker." muttered Jin and got a snicker from the rest of the table. Jimin ignored them and kept staring at Yoongi, hoping he would look up.

"Has he really not apologized yet?" asked Jin.

"Nope. He thinks he has nothing to apologize for." said Jimin.

"Do I need to have a talk with him?" asked Jin, his motherly instincts coming in.

"No, it's fine . . . I'll deal with him some day." mumbled Jimin.

And that's how he thought at the beginning of the week. But by Friday, Jimin was still annoyed and Yoongi was still not apologetic.

"You have to talk to him at some point." said Hoseok as the two walked towards the subway. Jimin had his hood up and his eyes down.

"I have no idea what to say." he grumbled."I've been trying to think of something all week but nothing comes."

Hoseok thought for a moment. "Just completely catch him off guard. Or bribe him. Does he like something, like, a certain sandwich or something?"

Then, a light went off in Jimin's head and he spun around to grip Hoseok's shoulders.

"Thank you, Hoseok!" cried Jimin, slapping him on the shoulder once again and raced off in the opposite direction.

"N-No problem . . . Jimin . . ." mumbled Hoseok.

"Milk? You're bribing me with me milk?" asked Yoongi as Jimin stood before him, bowed in a 90 degree angle with a carton of strawberry milk in his grasp.

"J-Just take it." said Jimin, his face turning the color of his hair. Yoongi rolled his eyes and took the gift from his hands. Jimin straightened up, fixing his hair.

"But I'm still not telling you anything." growled Yoongi, turning away from him.

Okay, last attempt at persuasion.

With his face turned red with blush and his eyes squeezed shut in embarrassment, he called; "Oppa!"

Yoongi stopped with a slight trip as he spat milk across the pavement. "Wh-what did you j-just call me!?"

Jimin's face, scarlet and on fire, walked towards him and fisted his hands. "I-I said, Oppa . . . can you pl-lease tell me what's wrong, oppa."

Yoongi's eyes were wide, milk dribbling out of his slightly open mouth and his face was just as red as Jimin's. "Don't call me oppa."

"Yoongi-oppa."

"Stop." hissed Yoongi. Jimin was determined.

"Yoongi-oppa, please tell me what's wrong!" shouted Jimin, causing some of the other students to turn their heads. Yoongi slapped his hand over Jimin's mouth.

"Sh-shut up!" snarled Yoongi and dragged Jimin into an empty classroom. He shut the door with a bang and turned towards him.

"Don't ever call me oppa ever again." growled Yoongi, shoving Jimin up against the wall with his fist.

"I just wanna know what's wrong with you. Sorry that I'm worried." said Jimin.

"Listen, I told you. I can't tell you! I want to, trust me, but I just can't!"

Jimin threw Yoongi off him, folding his arms. "Why not? You have yet to give me a solid reason."

Yoongi rolled his eyes largely. "Because it's personal, Jimin. Why can't you respect that!?"

"Because you said that you can't be around me! Specifically, me! I wanna know what's wrong with me!" shouted Jimin.

"There's nothing wrong with you!" cried Yoongi, cupping Jimin's face in his hands. "You are one of the most perfect people I've ever met!"

"Then why can't you at least be friends with me if you feel that way!?"

"BECAUSE I KINDA LIKE YOU."

Jimin's face because a mix of anger and confusion and shock.

"You . . you what?"

"Because . . . because I kinda . . . really like you, Park Jimin." mumbled Yoongi, stepping away from him.

"Yoongi -"

"And that's why I can't really be around you. Because I won't be living here much longer, and I don't want any attachments."

"You're moving?" asked Jimin, cautiously.

Yoongi snorted. "Yeah."

Jimin straightened up. "Where to?"

"Dunno." snapped Yoongi.

"When?"

Yoongi covered his eyes with his hand. "I don't know either."

Jimin bit his lip. "I . . uh . . i'm sorry for. . . for pressuring you into telling me."

"It's alright. I guess I would've told you at some point."

Jimin sat against the wall, fiddling his fingers together. "You really don't know anything?"

"Nothing."

Jimin nodded and walked forward, taking Yoongi's hands. "Then . . . then why don't we take advantage of whatever hours, days, weeks, months whatever you have left. Because Yoongi?"

"Y-yeah?"

Jimin smiled lightly. "Because I kinda like you too."
