He sounded sure, confident, like he was telling the truth. Like he was the one she should follow. That's why she did it... She trusted him.She was running. Again. As fast as she could. Her breaths uneven. Her chest going up an down fast. Her legs burning.
Now, there was a white truck in front of them. She followed his gaze as it fell on it. He saluted her with a nod of his head, to jump on the truck. And for some reason, she did it. She was so desperate and scared that she didn't need to think twice. He helped her jump on it. When she managed to do it, the vehicle started moving. Jack said something to the driver and stayed back waving at her with subtle moves of his palm.
She left with the vehicle and the man that led her there stayed back. She watched as his figure became smaller and smaller. "Wait!" She shouted. "What am I supposed to do now?!" But the man called Jack couldn't hear her.
When she looked back, she realized that she wasn't alone. Other two people were there with her. They wore baggy clothes, their faces hidden in their hoods. From their big figures, she realized they were men. They stood up, in sync and Elinor let the child down, just behind her back, to protect her.
"Hello, my name is Elinor. And may I ask, who are you?" She asked courageously, outstretching her hand in a friendly manner, to check the origins of their purpose. But the other two were anything but friendly. One of them grabbed her hand and pulled her closer, as the other tried to get the child, but she managed to kick him.
"Stay away from her!" She warned them, "what do you want?".
Another mans' figure came out of the background now. He took away his hood and his face was revealed. His evil smile firmed once more on his lips. "Hello, princess. Do you mind if I continue my job? I really do take my duty seriously." He said in a sarcastic tone. "Forgive my brother Jack. He's a slave of his feelings."
This man, was Jacks' twin brother, who Elinor had the pleasure to meet, a while ago. It seemed that somehow, he had managed to hide in the vehicle that was supposed to save her. Now, she was there face to face with a man who, for sure, wanted to harm her.
Elinor didn't knew how, or why, she hadn't understood much the last hours. From one minute to another she went from Costello's house, to that 'prison', and then she tried to escape with a man she didn't even knew... And now she was in danger. With this government all the citizens were in danger.
Her attention caught a man, who was shouting desperately something about his wife and daughter, while two of Costello's soldiers were holding him from both of his arms, not letting him to move any further. One of them hit him violently on the head and the man passed out. Elinor watched as the two soldiers lied him down and left him there, on the sidewalk. On the streets, were now only men walking, as all the women were at that prison, from where she had escaped. And she still wasn't safe.
The man behind her, tried to hit her but she quickly noticed him and with one move she avoided his hand. With the next two moves she had him down... Down, as in... the street.
Now she had two men to deal with. She took notice of an iron stick, down, next to her feet. Long and thick enough to work. Using that and the technique she had been taught, she hit the other body guard repeatedly. Sometimes he would attack and hit her too. He was a better fighter than the previous man. But that wasn't enough. The fight ended and Elinor won once again, her opponent now fell on the road just like the previous one.
Then she tried to hit the man left. The truck had stopped and the driver had left, so it'd be easier now. But this one wasn't like the others. He was talented and he caught the stick real quick. Then she tried to hit him with her fist of her other hand. He caught it too. He was able to move really fast, he seemed to be such a great fighter. It was impressing and terrifying at the same time.
Where in the world was that Jack anyway? She thought that he had tried to save her, however, he had thrown her right inside the wolfs mouth...
Now she tried to kick him on his side. He let her hands go and he grabbed her leg and pulled it, causing her fall. She used her hands to pull herself away from him, wiggling her leg, so that it could escape his now lose grip.
As she stood on her feet, her back at the opponent she felt him wrapping one hand around her neck and the other around the area of her collarbones. "You're good at this princess, why don't you come with me?" He asked her. "I'll give you everything you want. I am rich you know... A member of Costello's government. With me, you won't have to run for your life never again. " He whispered right next to her ear with his sarcastic voice.
"I thought you wanted me imprisoned." She tried to escape his grip. But it got tighter now, hurting her skin around her neck. "Ouch! Let me go!" She demanded and she stepped with all her might on his left foot.
He shouted in pain but he quickly got over it. "You little-" he murmured with his now raspy voice, but before he could finish his insulting sentence he was interrupted by another man. A guard. "I'm sorry Ian, sir asked for her to meet him." He said obediently.
He won Ian's attention. "Costello? Costello wants to meet HER?" The man asked back surprised. He looked like he had lost his color. The only thing she was so sure about was that he was scared of his boss' reaction when he'd learn that this man has tried to capture her.
The truth is, that it was possible that Costello wouldn't care for this fact, but either way, it wasn't a good idea to harm those who he had chosen to survive this.
"Would you please come with me ma'am?" He asked Elinor politely.
"I'd love to, but I can't leave her here. " she said, talking about her little company. Rose.
"I suppose she can come too then..." The man smiled politely.
Elinor looked at the girl who smiled at her, relief showing all over her face. She took her small hand in hers and they walked towards the guard. "Come here little lady..." He smiled at the little girl. "Now, now, what's your name?" He asked her, while he knelt in front of her, so that they'd be in the same height.
"It's Rose." The girl answered with her sweet little voice. Elinor watched as the man shook hands with the young girl. "It's a pleasure to meet you. You're such a cute little girl. You can call me Drake." He whispered and smiled with his bright smile.
"Nice to meet you too." Rose answered giggling, with her childish voice.
"Now we're ready to go. Don't be afraid, you're safe with me." The man said. "Oh, and Mr. White! When you give a promise, try to keep it!" The man finished his words, laughing with a deep chuckle, as he saluted the two girls to follow him.
"Excuse me, I haven't introduced myself, my name is Drake." The man said to Elinor.
" Elinor." She smiled. "Thank you for helping us."
"I didn't knew women can fight so well! You were pretty good! I watched you fighting a little, just before I came in." The polite man said.
"Well, thank you, but I honestly don't know what I could have done without your help. Thank you so much."
"My pleasure. You know, I wouldn't have come, if Costello hadn't commanded that I do so... You were lucky." He said.
"I don't believe in luck." She answered sharply as they were walking towards Costellos mansion.
