I shot up, scared out of my mind by the loud sound emmiting from my alarm clock. I smashed it and sighed.
At least it was Friday.
I got out of bed, like usual, got dressed, like usual, and came downstairs, like usual. Every single day is the same for me. I'm sick of it.
"Morning, Alyssa," my mom said, smiling at me and handing me a plate of toast.
"Hi, Mom," I said groggily and sat down at the table. I pulled out my book and began to read.
"Will you ever stop reading?" Mom asked, laughing. I shrugged, taking a bite out of my breakfast.
"Maybe. Not now though, I'm at the good part." My mom rolled her eyes, shaking her head and smiling.
Once I finished my breakfast, I walked back upstairs, still reading my book, and almost tripping. I do that alot, sadly.
I quickly got ready, doing my hair and makeup, and ran downstairs, grabbing my schoolbooks. "Bye, Mom!" I called, walking out the door.
That was my typical morning. Get up, eat, get ready, go to school. I was staring to get sick of the routine. I wanted to have a more exciting life like the kids in my school. The kids with the leather jackets and fancy record players and they go dancing every night. Me? I just liked to stay home and read. I wished I could live a fun life, but I just wasn't outgoing enough. I hated myself because of that.
"Alyssa!" I heard someone call from behind me. I turned around to see my best friend in the whole wide world, Sam. She was the best.
"Hi Sam," I said, smiling. "Happy Friday!"
"Hey, are you going to the club tonight?" she asked excitedly. I gave her a weird look.
"Sorry, I can't... I just... have alot of work to catch up on! Yeah." I knew that wasn't true. She knew too, but didn't question it.
"Aww, that's okay. Maybe next week!" she said happily, although she knew I would say no again. I always said no.
"Yeah, maybe..." I trailed off.

Like usual, school was boring today. I found myself reading during Algebra and doodling in Physics. I never really paid attention, but the teachers almost never caught me.
The lunch bell finally rang after what seemed like an eternity, and I ran into the cafeteria, sitting down at my usual table, which I shared with Sam. Where was she, anyway?
I waited for about five minutes, watching the people pour into the cafetreia, and decided that she must have gotten a lunch detention. I pulled out my book and continued reading.
Today had been a boring day so far. For as long as I could remember, every day of my life had been borng. I desperately need some excitement.
I walked home after school with Sam and before I went into my house, she stopped me. "If you ever, y'know, change your mind about the club, come on down. I'll be there," she said.
"I'll think about it, Sam. I'll see you later," I replied, and stepped into my house.

The truth was, I really didn't have any schoolwork to catch up on. It was Friday, so I didn't have any schoolwork to do. I wanted to read, but I couldn't.
At dinner, Mom asked me how my day went, as usual. I just told her it went well, finished dinner, and put my dishes in the sink.
"I think I'll go take a walk in the park," I told her.
"Go ahead, sweetie. Be safe," she said as I picked up my book and walked out the door.
It was a really nice night for late September, a cool breeze flowing as I walked toward the nearby park. All of the kids were out in the clubs tonight, so I thought I'd be alone.
I found a nice bench underneath a dim streetlight, and began reading again. Alot of kids made fun of my reading habits, but I didn't care. It was better than their smoking habits.
I was reading for who knows how long until I heard a song being played on guitar faintly. I shook my head, thinking that it was in my brain. I heard it again, except I recognized the tune this time. Buddy Holly's "Words Of Love"! I had to find out where the music was coming from. I absolutely loved Buddy Holly.
I got up and walked towards where the music was coming from, and poked my head around the corner to see a young man, maybe a year or two older than me. He had brown hair, slicked back and curly, a leather jacket, and drainpipes. Definatley a teddy boy. He sat underneath a tree, playing the song on his guitar. After a while he looked up, and our eyes met.
"Something you need, miss?" He asked, laughing. I blushed.
"Erm, no, uh... I just heard that you were playing my favorite Buddy Holly song, so I, uh, thought I'd listen!" I laughed nervously. He smiled and shook his head.
"Shouldn't you be out with your friends? You shouldn't be spending a Friday night alone," he said. I shrugged.
"I don't really go out on Friday nights... or any nights, actually," I replied, laughing again.
"That makes two of us," he stated, smiling. "Wish to spend your Friday with me? I'm alone too." He patted the ground next to him. I walked over and sat down next to him. I looked up, and our eyes met once again. He did have nice eyes...
I snapped out of it when I heard his voice. "Any song requests?" he asked me sweetly. I thought for a moment, and shook my head.
"Play anything, I guess." He nodded, and began strumming a tune on the guitar. I just sat there in awe, staring at him as he concentrated on the notes, his eyes focoused on his fingers. When he finished, I clapped. "You should be a musician, er, uh..."
"John." He said. "John Lennon."
"I'm Alyssa. Alyssa Harold."
"That's a wonderful name," he said. I blushed. "I wanna be a famous musician one day! Me an' my friends got a band called The Quarrymen, and sometimes we play at the clubs."
"Maybe I could come and watch you the next time you play. Only thing is that I've never, er, been to a club..." He shrugged.
"It's not all what it's cracked up to be, Love. It's just dancing, really. I like to spend my nights out here." I nodded.
"As do I, John," I agreed. We talked for awhile longer, and he stood up, slinging his guitar behind his back and offering me his hand. I took it and stood up.
"Well, I really must be going, or my Aunt Mimi's gonna kill me... Will I see you again?"
"I'll probably be here tomorrow," I said.
"I hope you'll be here, then," he smiled. "Sorry, but I really have to go... see you around, Alyssa!" He called behind his bsck, walking down the path. I smiled and turned on my heel to walk home.
Something in my mind is telling me my life might just get a bit more exciting.
