Lolli and Luna were sitting on a bench looking out towards the lake, both humming a soft tune. The two girls glanced at each other and smiled toothily, before turning their attention back to the Black Lake.

"I could've sworn, that I just saw a glimpse of a tail." Luna spoke up, in her usual breathy voice.

Lolli sat up straighter and strained her neck a little, carefully surveying the lake, when she noticed nothing, she turned to her best friend disappointedly.

"I don't see anything..."

"No worries, Lolli. They'll show themselves to you sooner or later. Just be patient and kind, the merpeople are very kind." Luna said, her gaze still fixated on the lake.

"Well, I suppose you're right! I will wait, but for now, I haven't completed the 3 feet worth of parchment for Snape. Plus, dad's just sent me a new muggle contraption. It's similar to a quill, but more compact. He says it's called a 'fountain pen', I don't understand why though. I checked, the pen doesn't spurt ink." Lolli pondered, questioning herself, the air and Luna.

"I suppose you want to try and write your composition with the 'fountain pen', don't you? Well, have fun. You head on back inside first, I'll stay here a while longer." Luna said, her gaze never leaving the lake.

Leaving her best friend with a light squeeze on the shoulder, Lolli trotted back inside the castle, walking towards the Ravenclaw common room.

Somewhere along the way, she ran straight into her boyfriend.

"Draco! Watch where you're going! You almost ran into me." Lolli chided.

Waving her off, "Yeah, alright. I'm sorry. I'm just distracted is all, haven't seen you in a while."

"Draco, we saw each other last night." Lolli said pointedly, looking around to make sure no one was near.

Draco smiled knowingly, slowly leaning in to capture her lips in a kiss. But just then, a light cough broke them apart.

Lolli jumped back quite a distance and placed a hand over her drumming heart, she turned, red-faced, to rest her gaze on an amused McGonagall.

The older teacher adjusted her spectacles and looked at the duo with a questioning gaze. Lolli shifted uncomfortable while keeping her head down. Draco kept looking anywhere but at McGonagall.

"I'll see that you two have developed an unlikely friendship... Maybe something more. That's good, might put an end to all this ridiculous house rivalry. Anyway, carry on."

And with that the older woman glided away.

Lolli continued to stare in bewilderment at the spot where McGonagall was a moment ago, trying to wrap her head around the teacher's strange behavior.
