The snow was falling softly and was untouched. I quickly made soft footsteps in the snow running from my mother. She chased after me but I ducked under a tree and let the leaves dance. A hole was tucked behind the tree. Perfect.
"Jax! Come out Jax! Ready or not here I come! Ja-" Her voice faded abruptly and feet shuffled shifting the snow.
I burrowed deeper inside the rabbit hole and waited and waited and waited. The leaves camouflaged my hiding place. Poor bunnies. I climbed out after I felt I couldn't breathe anymore in the confined burrow. I ran to where my mom last was. Blood was spattered across the tree bark and the snow was tainted red. Dark red. I didnt know what was real and what wasn't. She was dead, I knew that. Her body was nowhere to be found, I knew that. I was all alone shivering in the snow, I knew that.
My name is Jax. My mother is dead. I'm alone in these woods. These spooky woods. Footprints surrounded me and pulluted the once beautiful snow. I ran home. I tripped over fallen branches and scrapped my knee on twigs that stuck out of trees. The snow was all over my face and snowflakes fell into my eyes and rested on my eyelashes. I was blinded by the weather but persintant.
Once I got inside I ran to my father. He was sitting on his seat speaking to a man through his holocom.
"Jax?" he put a finger up to tell the man on the other end of the hologram to hold and came to my side. "Jax, what's wrong?"
I fell into his arms and told him the whole story. He held me close and we cried.
But that was 11 years ago.
