Alina's POV:

"She's dead! The frost killed her! We're all doomed!" Niall screamed out, resting on his knees with his head in his hands.

Perrie and Zayn stood behind him looking shocked. Louis sprung forward, trying to comfort the blond fairy. Liam stood beside me, his dark purple wings loosing their radiant glow as his face went blank of all expression.

"Liam? You okay?"

Liam watched as Louis dragged the panicking blond fairy away, giving us a depressed look. Zayn and Perrie slowly flew back into the tree, their faces melancholy as well.

"What happened to her?" He asked, floating forward towards our sacred Pomegranate Tree.

She was falling apart, her pretty green leaves rapidly becoming brown and falling off. She was dead. Or at least, would be very soon. I followed him, sitting up on one of the branches. "Niall was wrong... She was poisoned."

Liam furrowed his eyebrows. "By who?"

I looked up at it, picking one of the ever-ripe fruits. "Hunters. Trying to poison our food. We could save her..." I closed my mouth, quickly coming to regret that last part.

"How?" Liam asked, face only inches from mine.

"Vampire venom. That'll reverse the effects of the poison." I answered, a bad taste in my mouth at the mention of those filthy creatures. They feed upon the blood of the innocent, destroying our ecosystems. They make me sick.

Liam grimaced, discusted by them as well. "Those damned things..." He stopped, smirking very suddenly. "Don't worry. Tell the others I'll be back soon. I'm gonna save the sacred tree!"

I was flying after him just as soon as the words left my mouth. I was having trouble keeping up. Besides Niall, Liam was the fastest flyer in the forest. He was gone in a dash of deep purple sparkles and fairy dust, and I was left to wonder where he was going. Idiot.

Ellis's POV:

I held my hands at my stomach, feeling like I was about to puke. I was desperate, pacing the floor to keep my mind off of the pain. Vic told me to stay here and rest. He was going to get something to help me. To cure us. Those dogs... They were damn traps! Poisoned! The Hunters baited us with the dogs, and now no matter how much we drink, we're still starving... I dug the fingers from my hoodie pocket, savoring every last drop of blood I could get before they were completely dry. I flicked them into the fireplace. Vic would burn them later.

"Damn it, Fuentes... I need that blood!"

A witch's blood? That was supposed to help me? Help us? That sounds like a load of bullshit to me, but he's been around for about 220 years longer than I have. And I'm 189 years old! But whatever. As long as it doesn't taste as bad as I imagine it will, I guess it's okay.

I smiled at the thought of him ripping some old witch hag apart and bringing her blood back to me, her teeth strung around his neck like a medal. Vic always took "trophies" from our victims. I grinned. I'd like to take the wand from some insufferable witch and see the twisted look on her hideous face as I snapped her neck and burned her at the steak. Then I'd use the wand as a mixing spoon to make myself some hot chocolate. Would blood taste good in hot chocolate? ...

Blood makes everything taste better.

And hot chocolate is amazing. Even in the summer, being a vampire is so cold! I'm always freezing! I needed something warm. Something warm to help my sanity return. Maybe if I could be warm, I could be normal again...

"Oh shit!" I heard someone yell, followed by a loud crash.

I ran into Vic's bedroom, my red eyes widening at the sight of the purple-winged boy on his bed. He had fallen into the window. He now lay out cold on the bed, the gash on his forehead suggesting that he had slammed his skull against the headboard on his was down. I smirked. A new toy!

Vic's POV:

Her little apprentice was gone. They needed fairy dust. Fairy dust to save their little pet foxes and cure themselves too. I grinned. They'd be dead soon, and I wouldn't even have to kill them myself. That was good and bad. I've always loved a good fight to be put up by my food.

Witches were disgusting. Despicable. The fuckers were nothing but sacks of delicious blood. Witch blood had always been my favorite, and vampires can use it to cure ourselves. Ellis and I will be fine in no time.

I watched the redhead leave. The witch told him where a nearby fairy tree was. She was coughing, leaning against her desk with Earl Grey tea in her hands to soothe her. I laughed, watching her fight to stay awake. She was so pathetic. But, I felt strange. She stared into the mirror on the wall, looking at her pale face. Both her green eye and her brown eye had dark circles under them, evidence that she was very weary. The redhead looked no better, but seemed to not be as sick, so he was the one who left, Those Hunters got them too. The witch stared into the mirror for a little longer before her gaze directed towards the window. I ducked, not wanting to be seen just yet. But before I could slip away, I saw her look out, her gaze empty.

And I felt... Sympathy?

Caro's POV:

Harry slammed an empty bottle of poison onto the table, his green eyes glinting with excitement. I grinned.

"What do we do now?" I asked, sitting down in his lap.

He reached forward, playing with the curls at the ends of my hair. "Now we wait."

I looked outside, frowning at the empty doghouses. Harry saw me staring and nuzzled my cheek. "S'okay, babe. They died for a good reason. We got the vampires."

"I know..." I replied. "And the witch and wizard. But what about the fairies?"

Harry snarled. He always hated the fairies the most. "Not the fairies. But sooner or later, they'll die without their special tree. I guarantee it."

I giggled. "Yay! More fairy wings for the collection!"

He smiled, looking over to the sets I had frames and hung on the wall. I pointed to some empty spaces. "I need purple ones and green ones..."

Harry nodded. "Well we're gonna getcha some."
