Alina's POV:

He was odd. Not dangerous. Odd. I could tell that he was nervous. Shaking in the chilly forest air, Ed fidgeted. He focused on everything but answering my questions. His red hair had been combed through about half a dozen times, but it was still the windblown mess it was 30 minutes ago. Still, that was apparently more important than the questions I had been trying to get answers for for half an hour.

"Do you like fajitas?" He asked, for once actually saying something more than just, "I promised not to tell anyone anything. I'm sorry."

I blinked. "What's a fajita?"

Ed's eyes opened wide. "You've never had a-"

"Nope."

"Well... I was gonna make some for dinner... But I think I'm lost." He looked around. "You see that bush over there? I've circled it about 15 times. I'm pretty much completely lost."

I laughed. Ed was silly. He kind of reminded me of Liam. My eyes opened wide. "LIAM!" In a moment I was to my feet, abandoning the log that we had been sitting on for a while. Liam had been missing and I got distracted. I'm a terrible treemate. "I have to go!" I yelled, spinning around to face him.

Ed looked startled. "Why?"

"My best friend is missing and I have to find him! I don't have time to stay and chat!"

"I'll help." Ed added.

I shook my head. "No, that's okay."

"I insist. Then when we find him, I'll make you some fajitas.... Okay-"

He trailed off and I smiled. "Alina. It's Alina. And thank you."

Ellis's POV:

Vic isn't back yet, and I had already been finished with my dinner. It's his fault that there isn't any squirrel left in the fridge. He should have come home before I got too thirsty. He'll have to get his own I guess.

"ELLLLISSSS!"

Sparkles? I stood up, abandoning my lighter on the table and going to the basement. When I opened the door he was down at the bottom of the stairs staring at me. He looked pissed. I grinned. "Ey there, Sparkles."

"Were you planning on feeding me? Or can I leave now?"

"Of course you can't do that, idiot." I laughed, rolling my eyes. Fairies and their stupid jokes.

"Then might I have something to eat?"

"Yeah, sure. Just chill down here." I shut the door laughing. It's not like I'm giving him any other choice. That wouldn't be any fun. Truth is, I just get bored. Maybe after the first 192 years of your life, it just isn't like it used to be. I shrugged, stacking sugar cubes into a pyramid and cutting up a few fruits. More than enough for a little fairy. They don't eat too much.

"Bon appetite, man." I said, setting down the plate on his table.

I saw him eyeing the stairs, sizing me up before trying to run. I smirked, looking at the open door. His wings twitched. I licked my lips. I was ready. Within the next second he was off, flying up the stairs like a bat out of hell. I was faster though. He gasped as I grabbed him by the shoulder, throwing him back down. He skidded down the stairs again, landing in a whimpering heap at the bottom. I opened my eyes wide, running down to him and helping him limp to the bed.

"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! Sparkles! Are you okay? God, I didn't mean it!"

Liam squirmed on his bed, his wing a little bent and the other one folded over weird. He looked at me, his face pained. "No I'm not okay! My wings are broken!"
