Persephone's POV:

The door slammed shut and I heard my babies bark. Sheepcat jumped out of my lap, crawling up my shoulder and resting on my head. Ed sheepishly shuffled through the door, looking down. I glared.

"Finally home, Sheeran."

He looked up at me and smiled. "Persephone! Hello! Are you aware that you have a kitten on your head?"

"Very." I replied sharply, pulling my bare legs up into my large leather chair and fixing my nightgown over them.

"You look quite beautiful with a cat on your head, Miss. Quite a good look for-"

"Stop with the flattery. Why am I still here without the fairy dust?" I growled, cutting him off.

"Well... I was going to get it but..."

"But what?"

"Well, I found a fairy."

I grinned, still glaring. "Well that's farther than I thought you'd get. Good job, baiseur. Ten points to Griffyndor. "

Ed looked down at the foxes. "That stings."

"Good." I replied. "Now explain."

"I found a fairy... And she was really nice. And she smelled nice too. But... I couldn't... She didn't give me the dust because..."

"Spit it out you toadstool!" I shouted.

"Vampire." He said softly, sitting in front of my chair like a child. He hung his head defeatedly. "I'm so sorry, Persephone. I failed."

I relaxed, playing with his fiery red hair. "What did this vampire look like?"

"He was tan. He had dark brown hair. It was longish. He was wearing a gray beanie. Had sharp white fangs. Pretty skinny. He looked sickly... And he had a nose piercing. He said his name was Vic Fuentes."

Ed's POV:

Persephone went still and rigid behind me. I turned to look at her. She had her dagger drawn from under her chair, clutching it to her chest. "I'll KILL HIM."

I widened my eyes, slowly leaning away from her. She slammed the dagger into the side table next to the chair, splitting the wood. She looked back to me, now seemingly calm again.

"Desole."

I coughed, looking at my hands nervously. "Quite alright, Mademoiselle."

"Ed, dear, I'm not upset with you. Please forgive me for the outburst."

I nodded.

She smiled gently, pressing her palms to my cheeks, turning me to look at her. "You have a new mission, Ed. Are you ready to prove yourself?"

I perked up. This is my chance! Yes! She's giving me another shot! I was so happy I could write a song about it, but I tried to seem calm and collected while she was watching. "Yes ma'am. I'm prepared to serve."

She smirked. "Good. Good." She stood up, grabbing my hands and attempting to pull me to my feet.

She whimpered, barely steady enough to keep the kitten from falling off her head. I stood on my own, steadying her.

"Where are you going, Pers?" I asked.

"My chamber." She replied, raising a hand to her forehead.

I picked her up, carefully carrying her to her bedroom. She clung to my neck, resting her head on my shoulder. She might be my mentor, but she's also my best friend. She takes care of me. And sometimes I even take care of her.
