Chapter six, The ZIS

Judy and Nick walk up the steps of the ZIS. They open the door and they're crowded by ZIS agents.

"We never have ZPD visitors, who are you?" one agent asks.

Judy points to her badge.

"Officer Judy Hopps ZPD, I'm looking for Fawn Slydon," Judy says.

Judy turns to Nick, giving him a gentle nudge.

"Officer Nick Wilde, also ZPD. Carrots, how do you expect to find Fawn here?" Nick asks.

The agents mumble.

"Officer Hopps, Officer Wilde if you'll follow me," another agent says.

Judy and Nick follow the agent through the winding corridors of the ZIS headquarters. They soon stand before a door with a plaque says 'head of field agents and investigations of suspicious mammals' the agent pushes the door open. A fox looks up at Judy and Nick, it's Fawn. She lets out a gasp and stood up quickly.

"Nick? What are you doing here?" Fawn asks,

"I... what are you doing here?" Nick asks,

"Um, nothing. Look, I don't want to see you again Nick, you embarrassed me in front of my family last night, I can't believe you'd do that. I was a laughing stock of the... um family," Fawn snaps

"Yeah, not my fault. It was your DNA in our crime scene. So I'm sorry Fawn, besides, it looks like you've not been exactly honest. You're a ZIS agent?" Nick exclaims,

"I um, no I am not!" Fawn yells.

The door is pushed open again. A badger walks through the door.

"Agent Slydon, I have the final cases here for you. Oh, I didn't know you had guests," the badger says,

"Thank you, just put them down and head back downstairs," Fawn replies.

The badger sets the files down and walks out the door quickly, ensuring to shut it.

"Fine! So I work for the ZIS but we're not married so I'm not allowed to tell you that I work here, so says my employment contract. I'd show you but it's been stolen," Fawn sighs sitting down,

"Your employment contracts been stolen?" Judy asks,

"Yes, about 4 months ago. From my home in Tundra Town," Fawn replies.

Judy looks at Nick. There's a short pause.

"What about the fur we found on our crime scene?" Judy asks,

"It could be one of three things, either somebody switched the fur at the lab, somebody changed my file or a mix-up," Fawn replies,

"And how can we find out what happened exactly?" Nick asks,

"Well, you if you get me the fur then I'll be able to find out if it's been switched, if you check my file, the DNA sample will have been changed recently then there you go. If it's neither of those then lab mix up. You won't be able to access my file, it's locked down. I can't give you access to my file either, it's in my contract, but Bogo can," Fawn explains, "I've been investigating the robberies also, you can have my files if you want,"

"Please," Judy replies.

Fawn pushes through files on her desk. She pulls at a file from the bottom of the pile. Nick's radio suddenly comes to life.

"Wilde! We're needed to back at the station!" Chief Bogo's voice screeches,

"What? Why?" Judy asks,

"We've been robbed that's why. The case files are gone, get back here now!" Chief Bogo yells.

Fawn hands Judy her file.

"I think you'll need this," Fawn tells Judy,

"Thank you," Judy replies.

Judy takes the file, quickly she and Nick run through the building. A couple of agents try to get in the way.

"Let them through, on my order," Fawn shouts at the agents.

The agents shrug and let Nick and Judy go past. They jump into the car and whizz through the roads and stop before the station. Judy jumps out and into the station, there are a few papers floating across the floor. Judy picks on a piece of paper up. She examines then turns back to the station.

"What happened?" Judy asks.

Jake walks over to Nick and Judy.

"We haven't a clue cupcake. Clawhauser just opened the storage room door and was greeted, well by this," Jake replies.

Jake shows the storage room to Judy. It's a mess, the shelves are smashed in and there are files and shredded bits of paper everywhere.

"Who would do this?" Judy mutters,

"Well I can tell you one thing, it was a mammal with orange fur," Nick replies.

He picks up a piece of fur that was caught on the cabinet.

"That's not orange it's brown fur," Judy exclaims,

"Hmm, I'm going to have another word with Clawhauser," Jake says.

Judy gives Jake a nod she spots Chief Bogo out the corner of her eye.

"Come on Nick, we can solve this once and for all, if we just hurry," Judy whispers.

Nick nods, he follows Judy up to Chief Bogo's office. Nick knocks on the door and walks in first, they take a seat.

"Chief Bogo, I desperately need access to Fawn Slydon's file," Judy says,

"I don't think I am allowed to do that," Chief Bogo sighs,

"Please sir, we require access. I'd do it myself but the file is locked. It's crucial that I see the content of the file," Judy begs,

"Hopps, files are locked for a reason. I really can't be giving you access," Chief Bogo tells Judy,

"Well that's funny because I was just talking to the head of field agents and investigations of suspicious mammals and they told me you could, so please Chief, open the file," Nick replies.

Chief Bogo glares at Nick then sighs. He pulls his keyboard closer and clicks his way through the mammal files. He finds Fawn's file and opens it, then turns the screen around so Nick and Judy can see.

"There you go, now make it quick," Chief Bogo sighs.

'Agent Fawn Slydon. Aged 35. Head of field agents and investigations of suspicious mammals at the ZIS. DNA sample changed three months ago'

"Changed three months ago, there we have it. Come on Nick we have to go to Fawn. We'll have this case cracked by dawn!" Judy exclaims,

"I don't get it carrots, how will you crack it by dawn?" Nick says,

"If only a few animals can access the file and I'll bet even less will be able to change it, come on Nick hurry!" Judy explains.

Judy scrambles off the chair and dashes through the station. Nick follows her scrambling to keep up. He jumps into the car and before he has a chance to shut the door Judy presses on the peddle and has the sirens on and is pushing through the traffic.
