(^^The girl is Sophie)

"Sydney, come make us dinner, now!"

I heard Mrs. Jennings yell from the dining room to make dinner, and at her command I did because if I didn't all hell would break loose.

"Yes Mrs. Jennings!" 

I walked into the kitchen and started making dinner for the children and staff here at Mrs. Jennings orphanage. I was mixing the soup when i felt something tug lightly on my pants, I looked down and saw one of my only friends here at the orphanage. 

"Hello Sophie"

"Hi Syd, what you making?"

"Your favorite Soph"

"Your making Shepard pie?!?!?" I laugh at her reaction.

"Yes Soph, and chocolate chip cookies" She looks at me with her big brown eyes and smiles so big that her smile could bring a dead monkey back to life. 

"YAYYYYYY!" I watch as she runs around the kitchen happy. I turn the stove off and pick her up.

"You're only getting cookies if I get a hug" I laugh as she hugs me so tight, well it wasn't really tight considering she is only 6. 

When Sophie got here she was only just born and Mrs. Jennings wasn't going to take her in, but I couldn't bare to see Mrs. Jennings reject her so I made a deal with Mrs. Jennings that while I'm still here at the orphanage Sophie and I share everything so we have to sleep in the same bed, I half my food with Sophie everything. Part of the deal was also this; when I get adopted or leave when I'm 18 Sophie gets everything that I have, so she gets a full meal, a bed to herself everything that we share will just be for her; and if Mrs. Jennings breaks the deal she doesn't get to run the orphanage anymore because this deal got signed off by the president. So since I was 10 years old I've been sharing everything with Sophie.

I hear footsteps coming our way so whisper to Sophie

"Soph, go, go its Mrs. Jennings" I watch as Sophie runs away to the games room and I finish up making dinner. 

"Ahh, Sydney, is dinner ready I am starving!" Talking about the wicked witch from hell.

"Yes Mrs. Jennings its ready" I silently kill myself in the inside. 

" Very well, we are waiting for it to be served on the table" See this is what I have to go through. I'm telling you she is a devil. 

In the nicest most cheeriest voice I say "Yes Mrs. Jennings" I watch as she walks away with the most evil grin. 

*TIME SKIP TO: THE NEXT DAY*

I wake up with Sophie's head on my chest with her curled up in a ball. I lay Sophie down and wrap the blanket around her. As she snuggles into the blanket  I quickly get dressed and go downstairs. 

Great the devils child is awake. I try to walk past her without her giving me a mean comment but it doesn't work.

"Well if it isn't little miss Sydney. You know no one is going to adopt you; you're too ugly. You're worthless no one wants a 16 year old girl who used to cut."

I look up and stare into Rebecca's eyes, but I notice a figure and as I look closer I see a guy with brown hair staring at me. 

"You know Rebecca, you think I can break that easily, well I wont because I've put up with your shit for 12 years! And how many times do I have to tell you i'm 2 years older than you so don't call me little."

Now the guy that was once staring at me had a smile on his face. Probably some guy trying to find a kid to adopt. Then I realize something.. was that....cal--....... I look up but he's gone. Must have been my imagination. 

After bringing myself back together I see Rebecca walking away. Well that's odd usually she doesn't leave for more than 20 minutes. Oh well, I shrug it off and walk into the main room. 

Just as I walk in I see probably all the girls in the orphanage circling around something. I sit down and after 15 seconds I hear a scream coming from upstairs. The girls stop circling whatever they were circling and look at me. It takes a moment to register but then I realize the screaming was coming from Sophie. I look towards the girls as I see 4 boys stand up.

Boy No. 1: blonde quiffed hair and blue pricing eyes.

Boy No. 2: Flaming red hair and a green day shirt.

Boy No. 3: Brown hair and soft brown eyes.

Boy No. 4: Muscular but looks caring with black framed glasses and long gold ish-brown hair.

The boys look at me as I take in their features but then I remember..

Sophie

I quickly sprint upstairs and into my bedroom shared with Sophie as I see her sobbing and screaming in a ball with her head between her knees. As fast as I could I dived onto the bed and picked Sophie up holding her in my arms trying to calm her down. 

"Soph what happened?"

"Syd, I  h-had a bad dream" I look at the crying child as I hug her resting her head on my chest as I rock back and forth. 

"Do you want me to sing you the song Soph?"

"Y-yes please syd"

"Hello there the angel from my nightmare

The shadow in the background of the morgue

The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley

We can live like Jack and Sally if we want

Where you can always find me

And we'll have Halloween on Christmas

And in the night we'll wish this never ends

We'll wish this never ends  " I start singing 'I miss you' by blink-182 as I see the 4 boys from downstairs watching from the doorway. I keep singing the song till Sophie falls asleep in my arms and I slowly lay her down on the bed and tuck her in the blanket. I turn to see the boys as they watch me with soft eyes. I quickly kiss Sophie's forehead as I walk out the door. 

I face the 4 boys still looking at me.

"What could I help you with?"

The one with the brown hair steps forward

"We want to adopt you, Sydney"
